2、cation Standardization Sector) is a permanent organ of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommen- dations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The Worl
3、d Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the -T Study Groups which, in their turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. -The approval of Recommendations by the Members of the ITU-T is covered by the procedure laid do
4、wn in WTSC Resolution No. 1 (Helsinki, March 1-12, 1993). 35、e (ODA) base Recommendations I International Standards and associated profiles specify the means to represent and interchange complex documents. Communication base Recommendations I International Standards and associated profiles, specifying interchange, remote manipulation and management of documen
36、ts at the application layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model, have also been specified, as Document Transfer And Manipulation (DTAM) and Document Filing and Retrieval (DFR). I Standardizing document communication services will help implementors and service providers to exten
37、d the use and acceptance of these services. Furthermore, the standardization of document communication service profiles will facilitate interworking. This Recommendation specifies ODA document communication services to be provided on top of existing base standards or profiles, giving constraints on
38、them and rules on how to use and combine them. This Recommendation specifies basic services, like storing-and-retrieval or manipulation.
