、 FOR THE COMMITMENT, CONCURRENCY AND RECOVERY SERVICE ELEMENT Summary This Recommendation I International Standard describes the application layer service for OS1 commitment, concurrency and recovery service element. OS1 CCR provides a service by which a set of actions are grouped together to form a

、n “atomic action“, where either the entire set of actions performed or none is performed. Source The ITU-T Recommendation X.851 was approved on the 12th of December 1997. 10、GL 3777 4862573 Ob477b7 348 = FOREWORD ITU (International Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations Specialized Agency in the field of telecommuni- cations. The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of the IT. The ITU-T is responsible for studying technical,

、operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T Study Groups which, in t

、heir turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of Recommendations by the Members of the IT-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Resolution No. 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within IT-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborat

、ive basis with IS0 and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS The IT draws attention to the possibility that the practice or implemen

、tation of this Recommendation may involve the use of a claimed Intellectual Property Right. The ITU takes no position concerning the evidence, validity or applicability of claimed Intellectual Property Rights, whether asserted by IT members or others outside of the Recommendation development process

、. As of the date of approval of this Recommendation, the ITU had not received notice of intellectual property, protected by patents, which may be required to implement this Recommendation. However, implementors are cautioned that this may not represent the latest information and are therefore strong

It

、relates to other ITU-T Recommendations I International Standards in the set defined by the Reference Model for Open Systems Interconnection (see ITU-T Rec. X.200 I ISO/IEC 7498). The reference model subdivides the area of standardization for interconnection into a series of layers of specification,

、each of manageable size. The goal of Open Systems Interconnection is to allow, with a minimum of technical agreement outside the interconnection Recommendations and International Standards, the interconnection of information processing systems: - from different manufacturers; - under different manag

、ements; - of different levels of complexity; and - of different technologies. This Recommendation I International Standard recognizes that application-processes may wish to communicate with each other for a wide variety of reasons. However, any communication requires certain services independent of

、the reasons for communication. The application-service-element defined in this Recommendation I International Standard provides such services. This Recommendation I International Standard defines the facilities of the application-service-clement for Commitment, Concurrency and Recovery (CCR). CCR pr

、ovides services for a single association. A referencing specification uses these services for starting and ending a specific sequence of distributed application operations despite application or communication failure. This Recommendation I International Standard is referenced by a specification to a

、pply CCR to its operation. CCR services may be used with presentation services (see ITU-T Rec. X.216 I ISOLEC 8822), or with other Application Layer services. However, the use of CCR services is subject to the restrictions specified in clause 9. The use of CCR services allows a referencing specifica

、tion to define its activity as an atomic action. An atomic action may use many associations, possibly with different protocols on each association. Annex A describes the rules that shall be followed by a specification that references this Recommendation I Intemational Standard. Annex B presents the

、relationship of the CCR model and concepts to the Application Layer Structure (sec ITU-T Rec. X.207 I ISO/IEC 9545). Annex C is a tutorial to aid the understanding of the concepts and facilities of CCR. ITU-T Rec. X.851 (1997 E) V STD-ITU-T RECMN X-BII-ENGL I1977 O 4862573 0647773 877 W ISO/IEC 9804

、 : 1998 (E) INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ITU-T RECOMMENDATION INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - OPEN SYSTEMS INTERCONNECTION - SERVICE DEFINITION FOR THE COMMITMENT, CONCURRENCY AND RECOVERY SERVICE ELEMENT 1 Scope This Recommendation I International Standard is intended for reference by other specifications when

、the functionality of commitment, concurrency and recovery is required. It can be referenced whenever the processing of two or more application-entity invocations in a distributed application needs to be organized into an atomic action. This Recommendation I International Standard defines services th

、at are used on a single association to coordinate two application-entity invocations involved in an atomic action. The determination of which application-entity invocations are involved in an atomic action is not within the scope of this Recommendation I International Standard. This Recommendation I

、 International Standard establishes the general principles for the coordinated use of the CCR services when more than two application-entity invocations are involved in a single atomic action, or when recovery is required after failure. The coordination of multiple associations and the related appli

、cation-entity invocations that constitute an atomic action is achieved by a referencing specification in conjunction with this Recommendation I International Standard. This Recommendation I International Standard is only applicable to a distributed application whose specification references this Rec

、ommendation I International Standard. This Recommendation I International Standard does not specify individual implementations or products. It does not constrain the implementation of entities and interfaces within a computer system. No requirement is made for conformance to this Recommendation I In

、ternational Standard. This Recommendation I International Standard includes requirements for compliance that apply to a referencing specification. The CCR service defined in this Recommendation I International Standard requires that CCR Protocol Version 2 (or a later version) is being used. 2 Normat
