44、sirable to allow as many options as possible at the manufacturing level and still insure proper engineering performance. A system of coding steels to accomplish these objectives was established and is covered in MPAPS A-0, Part II, International system of Steel Classification. It is recommended that
45、 this coding system be used whenever possible. See “Choice of Tables” in A-0, Part II. for critical parts where the freedom of a code cannot be permitted, a specific steel grade should be used. Ordinarily, no reference to A-2 is made on the drawing except for steels with special properties. Examples
46、 of drawing specifications for cold finished steels are as follows: 2-421, MPAPS A-0, Pt II 1045 SR, MPAPS A-2 2-400, MPAPS A-0, Pt II 1144 SS, MPAPS A-2 9.2 Purchase Orders Material designation on purchase orders should consist of one of the appropriate grades and any special requirements necessary for proper fabrication of the part. see “Appendix - General Information.” Examples: 1144 SR, MPAPS A-2 1117 CD, MPAPS A-2 1137 CD, G editorial changes R.
