Some of the types are also merchandised by the Navistar Parts Marketing Operation
5、. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements for ethylene glycol base antifreeze solutions suitable for factory fill of cooling systems in the Companys products, and also for sale under Navistars trademarks. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supp
6、lied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 8、0 ASTM D1384 ASTM D6210 ASTM D1121 ASTM D1881 ASTM E1177 ASTM D2809 4.0 CLASSIFICATION OR DESIGNATION 4.1 Type I is a basic low silicate concentrate product for use in diesel engines and requires a pre-charge of supplemental coolant additive (SCA) for protection against cylinder liner pitting. This
9、coolant type does not meet the requirements of ASTM D6210. 4.2 Type II is a fully formulated coolant concentrate which contains a pre-charge of SCA. 11、t for use in diesel engines which does not require the use of traditional supplemental coolant additives (SCA). This coolant type meets the requirements of ASTM D6210. This product may be supplied with a premixed phosphate additive. 4.4 Type IIIA is a fully formulated organic acid based long life co
12、olant, for use in diesel engines, which does not require the use of traditional supplemental coolant additives (SCA). Type IIIA coolant is free of nitrites, amines, and 2 ethyl hexanoic acid. This coolant type meets the requirements of ASTM D6210. 4.5 In the event that material is ordered to the req
13、uirements of this specification without reference to either Type I, Type II, or Type IIIA. Type III material shall be supplied. 5.0 REQUIREMENTS Material purchased to this specification will conform to the requirements for each type as shown in Table 1. 5.1 Compatibility: Mixture in any concentratio
14、n with other products found satisfactory under this specification will not adversely affect the performance unless the engine or owners manual requires that the coolant be nitrite free. 5.2 Purity: The material purchased to this specification will be substantially free from suspended matter and will
15、 not have an objectionable odor. 5.3 Storage: Material supplied to the requirements of this specification will have a minimum storage life of one year. 6.0 QUALITY Products purchased under this specification will be ethylene glycol base antifreezes suitable for the use intended. Suppliers will quali
16、fy their products for use in all parts of the country in which they are intended to be sold. 6.1 Dilution: 6.1.1 Aftermarket Product: Water used to dilute the coolant system will be fully deionized or distilled. 6.1.2 Production Product: Water used to dilute the coolant system will be fully deionize
17、d or distilled, unless otherwise approved by the Quality Control Department of the using Plant, Materials Engineering, and by the vendor. 7.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production shipments. When requested by Purchasing & Logistics, the supplier will
18、 furnish samples to Materials Engineering for engineering qualification which includes approval by the controlling engineering departments, including performance tests as required. Material submitted for qualification will be accompanied by detailed test information and also by certification that th
19、e material meets all requirements of this specification. 7.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following charac

22、ign Standard A-16 8.0 METHODS OF TEST 8.1 Refer to Section 11.0 for information on obtaining copies of Navistar specifications. 8.2 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is printed in the Federal Register available from the United States Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. 23、 CFR are often available in local public libraries. 8.3 ASTM Standards are available from: American Society for Testing and Materials, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103 (website: http:/www.astm.org ) 9.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 9.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR a
24、re required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an
25、 accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 9.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No c
26、hanges in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier De
27、velopment of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 9.3 Process Co
28、ntrol The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required propert
29、ies. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 10.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Parts shall be package
30、d so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 10.1 Bulk Delivery: When delivered in bulk quantities, the container in which the material is shipped will be marked clearly with the following information: designation, name of supplier, formula number or code and ba
31、tch number. The markings will be at least 1 inch (25mm) high. 44、ablished, silicate, nitrite, and molybdate values will be determined by accepted chemical analysis techniques. * Type II and Type III products must contain additives to minimize hot surface scaling deposits caused by hard water. * Must meet the requirements of ASTM D6210: A minimum concentration of nitrite (as NO2 ) of 2400 ppm or a minimum combined concentration of nitrite (as NO2) plus molybdate (as MoO42) of 1560 ppm. At least 600 ppm each of NO2 and MoO42 must be present.
