This grade may also be merchandized under the Fleetrite brand name. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the engineering requir
5、ements for oils used in the gasoline or propane engines of Navistar products. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless

DECEMBER 2014 Page 2 of 5 4.3 In the event that material is ordered to the requirements of this specification without reference to either Type I or Type II, Type I material shall be supplied. 5.0 REQUIREMENTS Oils supplied to the requirements of this specification s
11、hall consist of suitable refined petroleum base stocks compounded with such functional additives as are necessary to meet the specified requirements. Re-refined base stocks may be used provided that all other property and performance requirements are met. Material and workmanship shall be in accorda
12、nce with recognized good commercial practices. The material shall be suitable for the use intended, be free of visible water, and have no objectionable odor. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and any references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take p
13、recedence. 5.1 Oil Performance Requirements Candidate oils supplied to the requirements of this specification shall be evaluated by engine tests conducted on properly referenced test stands at calibrated engine testing laboratories as determined by the ASTM Test Monitoring Center. The following test

15、 the candidate oil as measured by these tests shall meet or exceed limits listed in SAE J183, Engine Oil Performance and Engine Service Classification for the API engine service categories designated for that Navistar Oil Grade. 5.1.1.1 Note: Extrapolation or read-across of results from engine perfo
16、rmance and/or shear stability tests conducted on formulations containing substantially similar additive treatments, and/or viscosity grades, may be considered acceptable on an individual basis. All differences between the viscosity grades may be considered on an individual basis. All differences bet
17、ween the formulations actually tested and the candidate oil must be fully explained in writing. 5.2 Special Performance Requirements 5.2.1 Shear Stability The shear stability of all grades shall be determined by ASTM D 7109 with 90 passes. The kinematic viscosity at 100o C of the stripped, filtered
18、sample shall not decrease more than 1.50 cSt, as compared to fresh oil. 5.2.2 Navistar Performance Test A sample of the candidate oil will be required by Navistar Engine Engineering for evaluation in engine tests that may utilize shear stability tests as a performance metric. As an alternative, Sout

DECEMBER 2014 Page 4 of 5 6.0 QUALIFICATION Suppliers wishing to qualify a candidate oil(s) to the requirements of this specification shall furnish to Materials Lab, Materials Engineering, 10400 W. North Ave., Melrose Park, Illi
29、nois, the following items: 6.0.1 A 3.8 liter sample of the candidate oil (Note: a separate oil sample is required for each Navistar oil grade). 6.0.2 A Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS) as per CFR Title 29, Part 1910, 6.0.3 A Formulation of the candidate oil (for each Navistar Grade) including so
30、urces and concentrations of all base stocks, additives and/or additive packages 6.0.4 Identification of the candidate oil by a distinctive formulation number, in addition to identification by any applicable brand names and/or product codes. 6.0.5 Complete physical and chemical properties of the cand
31、idate oil. 6.0.6 A summary of the oil performance-engine test results listing all of the primary performance criteria for the applicable API engine service classifications. In addition, upon request, one copy of the test report for any or all of the applicable engine tests shall also be furnished. 6
32、.0.7 Results of the shear stability tests of the candidate oil for each of the Navistar Oil Grades. 6.0.8 A certification by the supplier that the candidate oil meets all requirements of this specification. 6.0.9 Certification that the candidate oil is qualified to dexos1. This qualification is mand
33、atory for engine oils that meet API service category SN and will be merchandized under the FLEETRITE trademark. The supplier may submit additional evidence (for example: Fleet test data) that the candidate oil is suitable for its intended purpose. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for
34、products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process
35、 control.* * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be regis
36、tered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar a
37、nd must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation o
38、r processing practices are permitted without approval. 40、ng and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for chan
41、ge. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing al
42、l required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Parts
43、 shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 8.1 When delivered in bulk quantities each shipment shall be accompanied by a certificate of conformance to the requirements of this specification and will include the Navistar grade designation, the
44、name of the supplier, formula or formulation number, batch number, and date of manufacture. 8.2 When delivered in 55-gallon drums, each container shall be marked with the Navistar grade designation, name of supplier, formula or code number, batch number, and date of manufacture. Markings shall be at
45、 least one (1) inch high. 8.3 When packaged for retail sale the product will be supplied in individual containers and cartons that have been approved by the Parts Marketing Division. Identification and marking will be in accordance with requirements set forth by the Parts Marketing Division. 9.0 DES
