Change Notice: Changed to new MPAPS format; editorial changes. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers reinforced hose and hose assemblies with permanently attached end fittings for use in the air brake system. 2.0 SCOPE This spe

5、cification covers general, property and performance requirements, designation on drawings, quality, source approval and quality control, and approved sources. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with

6、 the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following Specifications, Standards, and Regulations are referenced in this specification. Quality System Standard ISO 9001 or TS-16949

8、Product supplied to the requirements of this specification shall meet all requirements of FMVSS 106 and SAE J1402 for Type A Hose. 4.1 Hose Construction The hose consists of a suitably blended ethylene-propylene-diene-terpolymer (EPDM) tube suitably reinforced with polyester textile fabric and EPDM

9、cover. 4.2 Fittings - Reference SAE J246 The hose fittings shall be permanently attached with a brass interior (the metal exposed to the interior air). 11、4.2.1.1 Brass For bar or extruded stock: C36000 (Half hard), C34500, or C35000 per CEMS C-3. For forgings: C37700 per CEMS C-3. 4.2.1.2 Steel Shall meet requirements of Code 0-115 per MPAPS A-0, Part II Flareless type ferrules will be made from steel 1008, 1010, 1112, or 12L14 per MPAPS A-0, Part I,

12、 and case hardened to Class 3 or Class 3A per MPAPS A-40, Section A. 4.3 Paint Mask All hose assemblies provided to NAVISTAR production facilities shall have a removable paint mask covering the entire length of exposed hose. 4.4 Dimensions And Tolerances The dimensions and tolerances of hose and hos

13、e assemblies shall conform to SAE J1402 for Type A hoses. 4.5 Property And Performance Requirements Hose and hose assemblies shall meet the requirements of FMVSS 106 and SAE J1402 for Type A hose, and additional requirements of this specification. All tests shall be performed in accordance with ASTM

14、 D 380 and/or ASTM D 622 unless otherwise indicated. 4.5.1 Original Properties TUBE AND COVER REQUIREMENTS Tensile Strength, MPa, min 7.0 Elongation, %, min. 200 Durometer, Shore A 70 - 85 Cold Flexibility (Tube and Cover): -40 C (-40 F) Shall not crack, check, or break Compression Set (Tube and Cov

15、er): ASTM D 395, Method B, 22 hours at 100 C 40% maximum Dynamic Ozone Resistance: ASTM D 3395 Method A, 100 pphm, 100 hours No cracks visible at 7X magnification Adhesion (minimum) 1.4 Nm/m (8 lbf/in) 4.5.2 Heat Aged Properties 4.5.2.1 Method Age material and hose assemblies for 168 hours at 100 C

16、(212 F) prior to test. Hose assemblies shall be tested in the same manner as required in SAE J1402 “High Temperature Resistance“. 4.5.2.2 Required Tensile Strength 80% minimum retention Elongation 50% minimum retention Hardness 10 points maximum change Burst 900 psi minimum There shall be no crackin

17、g, charring, or disintegration after straightening and the hose shall meet the“Proof Pressure“ requirements of SAE J1402. DECEMBER 2014 Page 3 of 5 5.0 QUALITY Parts supplied to this specification shall be free from parting line flash, wrinkles, voids, and other processing de

19、fects affecting performance in the application. All parts produced to this specification shall be clean and free of dirt, grease, and contamination. All debris from cutting and processing shall be removed. Any internal release agents shall be flushed from the inside of the part. There shall be no fl

20、ash exposed on the ID of the part. Parts shall be free of voids and/or reinforcement splices. External flash shall be no greater than 1.60 mm (.063 inches). Surfaces of the mold will conform to good machine shop practice; no micro-inch finish is specified. 6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification

21、 of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Suppliers shall submit samples for approval of finish, luster, color and appearance to the Navistar Industrial Design Group. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. Upon

22、 approval, styling master samples denoting the minimum level of acceptable appearance quality shall be developed and retained by the supplier and the quality department of each using NAVISTAR facility. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this

23、specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control. * 1. 24、OSE ASSEMBLIES: LENGTH * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required

25、 to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited

26、 registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in f

27、ormulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development o

28、f the proposed change(s). DECEMBER 2014 Page 4 of 5 and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with

30、 the request for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process ca

31、pable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing St

32、andard MS-D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 8.1 Identification 8.1.1 Tube Identification Hose and fittings supplied to this specification shall be identified in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 106 and

33、SAE J1402 for Type A hose. In addition, the following information shall be printed on the hose. A second lay line may be used to comply with all identification requirements Each tube shall be labeled or marked on the outer cover along the entire length of tube at intervals of 292-317 mm with a maxim

34、um spacing of 150 mm between repeats. The markings shall be in a color contrasting to that of the tube cover color, in clearly legible block capital letters not less than 3 mm high, except for sizes under 6.5 mm O.D. which shall be the maximum size possible, with the following minimum information: 8

35、.1.1.1 Vendor Code: A four-or-five-digit code assigned by NAVISTAR to each vendor. Contact Corporate Technical Standards for assignment of codes. 8.1.1.2 Tube Type: Identification by tube type. 8.1.1.3 Size: Nominal size, i.e., diameter in fractions of an inch or “dash” sizes, as required. 8.1.1.4 D

36、ate Code: A six-digit date code, with first two digits (01-12) representing the month, (01-31) representing the day, and the last two digits (02) representing the year, is the preferred method. Other methods of date code may be used by agreement between the purchaser and supplier. 8.1.1.5 Certificat

37、ion: DOT certification symbol when applicable. 8.1.1.6 Application: Identify for fuel applications. 8.1.1.7 Bar Code (Type D only): Tube assemblies must be identified by a 2D barcode label per EMD 10317. Label barcode must face outward from engine after installation for visibility and ease of scanni

38、ng. Label barcode image must also be located on a flat portion of the label after assembly.
