4、limits prior to use. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers thermoplastic rubber compounds used for various truck applications that may or may not contain recycled rubber materials. For thermoset compounds, see MPAPS L-6039. 1.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all produc
5、t supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements, identification, inspection, property and performance requirements, quality plan, and source approval and quality control r
6、equirements. 2.1 Descriptions This specification covers several categories of material types with several choices within each category. The choices within each category typically vary by hardness and related physical properties but can apply to similar applications. The following base material desig
7、nations are available: 2.1.1 TPR This designates a standard thermoplastic rubber material. It usually consists of thermoplastic olefins (TPO) blended with elastomers, although other polymer bases are available. These materials may contain recycled rubber (post-consumer automotive tire) with prior ap
8、proval. Typical applications include grommets, bumpers, boots, aero effect seals, body seals, sound dampers, closeouts, air ducts, trim components, valence panels and other interior and exterior applications. 2.1.2 TPU This designates a thermoplastic urethane material suitable for many of the applic
9、ations listed above and has its own unique properties. 2.2 Descriptions Suffix The following suffix modifications are available: 2.2.1 H This designates a heat and weather resistant thermoplastic material. Minimal oil resistance is expected for this material. 2.2.2 O This suffix designates a materia
10、l with good oil and diesel fuel resistance. Minimal oil resistance is expected for this material. Typical applications include water seals, air seals, and hos
12、es. 2.2.4 Compound Variations. A lower case letter may be used at the end of the compound designation, after the tensile strength number to indicate a specific compound. 2.3 Designation on Drawings The drawing designation shall consist of the base type of material TPR followed by any suffix requirem
13、ents H, O, or C which is then followed by the durometer specified with an “A” or “D” to designate scale. This is followed by a compound identifier to differentiate compound variations. If desired, the specific base polymer may be identified in the specification as well. For example: 2.3.1 TPR60A-a p
14、er MPAPS-6040 2.3.1.1 This designation identifies a basic elastomer with a durometer of 60 scale A. 2.3.2 TPO per MPAPS-6040 TPR-H70D-a 2.3.2.1 This designation identifies a TPO compound meeting the heat resistance requirements with a durometer of 70, scale D. This is also a specific compound variat
15、ion a designated by the “a.” 2.3.3 Polyester per MPAPS-6040 TPR-O55D-b 2.3.3.1 This is an oil resistant polyester elastomer compound with a durometer of 55, scale D. This compound is designated “b.” 2.3.4 TPR-0020 per MPAPS-6040 2.3.4.1 An alternate designation, intended primarily for parts still un
16、der development that may require material property modifications prior to final production release but after the print geometry has been determined. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 18、 ASTM D 575 NAVISTAR MPAPS GT-31 ASTM D 2240 MPAPS P-9543 4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS All materials covered by this specification shall meet the following requirements and shall be molded or extruded utilizing good industry practice. 4.1 Finish Unless otherwise specified on the engineering drawing the
19、part finish for molded parts shall be uniform as produced from a polished steel tool. The mold will be polished to a surface finish of 800 nm or better with small, incidental to part function or appearance, tool marks not polished out. Extruded products shall have a smooth and clean surface finish f
20、ree from any foreign matter. 4.2 Flash Unless otherwise specified on the engineering drawing the part shall have a maximum flash allowance of 0.80 mm. 22、rances unless otherwise stated on the print or unless specific tolerances are designated on the part detail. 23、ort is authorization of that approval prior to this change. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can a
24、lso fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their NAVISTAR Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts suppl
25、ied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples that were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing

28、les (when the results are ambiguous and not easily describe or photographed with sufficient resolution), and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier sha
29、ll either report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the pla
30、nt metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. 7.1
31、Identification When practical, parts shall be labeled or engraved in clearly legible block capital letters not less than 3 mm high with the following information: (a) Vendor code A four- or five-digit code assigned by NAVISTAR to each vendor. Contact Corporate Technical Standards, Truck Development
32、and Technology Center, for assignment of codes. (b) Material Type For example: MPAPS 6040, TPR60D-a. (c) Part Number Each part shall be identified with the NAVISTAR part number. (d) Date or Batch Code A code identifying the date of manufacture, the specific batch of parts, and the mold cavity number
33、, if applicable, shall be included in the identification of each part. The specific code to be used by each supplier shall be agreed upon and approval for the use of the code shall be obtained in writing prior to the delivery of parts for use in production. 8.0 APPROVED SOURCES See Table 3 and above
