REVISION: Steel Tubing, Power Transmission F-1 WRiTTEN/EDITED BY: PPROVED BY: DATE ISSUED Materials Engineering Materials Engineering August 2000 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers a round

2、, electric resistance welded low carbon steel tubing used for power transmission applications where a high torsional strength is required, such as propeller shafts. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the material requirements, mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances, quality and identificatio

3、n for two types of tubing: flash-in and mandrel drawn. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. Quality System Standard QS-9000 (IS0 9001

7、lbf) D = Outside Diameter (in) d = Inside Diameter (in) 4.2.2 Yield torque shall be determined at 0.1% offset. Using a gage length of 61.0 cm (24 in), a 0.1% offset is equal to an angular displacement of 1.375“ in the plot of torque (in-lbf) versus angular displacement (degrees). 4.2.3 Hardness Rock

The flaring test shall be performed on a conical mandrel with an included angle of 60“

9、as described in ASTM A-370, Supplement II. The test sample shall be a section 10.2 cm (4 in) long which has been cut from the tube. Ends of the sample shall be perpendicular to the tube axis, burrs shall be removed, and a sharp corner maintained. 4.2.4.1 Optional Method A test mandrel shown in Figur

10、e 1 may be substituted for the 60“ mandrel. Tubing shall not split when the I.D. is expanded to the required diameter for a minimum distance of 2.5 cm (1.0 in). 4.2.5 Dimensional Tolerances: See Table 1, page 5. 4.2.5.1 Flash Height Flash shall be limited for a distance of 31.8 mm (1.25 in) from the
