5、product, with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side, protected with a release paper. This material is intended for use as a compression seal that inhibits the passage of air, water, and dust in assembled joints or components. The product is provided as die-cut parts in addition to tape. 1.1 Clas
6、s I (Firm) This material is formulated to seal under high compressive forces experienced in mechanically fastened assemblies, such as riveted joints in cab construction. 1.2 Class II (Medium) This material is formulated to seal where medium compressive forces are experienced and where irregularities
7、 on mating surfaces are encountered. This product is recommended for application where dimensional stability is necessary on thin wall die-cut parts. 1.3 Class III (Soft) This material is formulated to seal where light compressive forces are experienced and greater irregularities and tolerances are
8、encountered. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality and general information including width and thickness tolerances, and preferred sizes with bulk part numbers. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective JANUARY 1, 2007, all pr

12、connected cellular polyvinyl chloride resin base foam, with a suitable pressure-sensitive adhesive on one surface, protected with an easy release liner paper. When compressed a min of 30%, this material is designed to produce a satisfactory seal. 4.2 Adhesive Shall be of a long-aging high tack conta
13、ct adhesive formulation. Applications where adhesive is not desired shall be so indicated on the part or assembly drawing. 4.3 Release Paper This product is manufactured so that as the foam material is unrolled, the adhesive surface is exposed and the release paper remains on the adhesive-free surfa
14、ce. Release paper shall remain with the tape and be removed after the application. This paper shall release easily and cleanly from the foam. 4.4 Color Shall be black unless otherwise specified. 4.5 Barrier Coating The Class II material is available with a low friction barrier coating on the non-adh
15、esive side to reduce friction and grab between the foam and mating surface. When material is applied around a fixed surface and a movable surface, such as a door or service cover, this coating should be specified on the part drawing. 4.6 Property And Performance Requirements 4.6.1 Compression: (ASTM

20、OTE: Sample may be reinforced by applying masking tape to non-adhesive side. 4.7 Water Absorption 4.7.1 Method Compress 30% a weighed sample 101.6 mm (4 in) square between stainless steel plates. Submerge at room temperature under a 50.8 mm (2 in) head of water for 22 hours. Remove sample, carefully
21、 blot all surfaces with an absorbent paper towel, and reweigh. Calculate weight change as water absorbed by volume. 4.7.2 Required Class I 4% max Class II 4% max Class III 6% max 4.8 Low Temperature Flexibility 4.8.1 Method Condition a 150 mm (6 in) long specimen four hours at -29.0 1C (-20 2F). Ben
22、d sample 180 around a 6.4 mm (1/4 in) mandrel at the test temperature. 4.8.2 Required All classes - no cracking. 4.9 Compression Set 4.9.1 Method ASTM D 1667 at 70 1C (158 2F) for 22 hours. APRIL 2010 Page 4 of 6 4.10 Staining 4.10.1 Method Apply sealant on a typical steel or aluminum test panel and spray paint per NAVISTAR CEMS G-5, Part II, Grade -19 (white) and cure paint for 20 minutes at 150C (300F). Subject test specimen to 250 hours per CEMS GT-31, Method E. 4.
25、10.2 Required Shall not discolor the painted surface and compare favorably with the adjoining painted metal surface. 4.11 Flammability Resistance Material and parts supplied to this specification shall conform to and be certified by the suppliers to meet the requirements of the latest issue of the F
26、ederal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 571.302 - Flammability of Interior Materials, and all requirements of TMS-9544. 5.0 QUALITY All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges or defects harmful to product performance. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier R
27、equirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers mu
28、st maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples whi
29、ch were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering,
30、 TDTC and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with th
31、e request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capab
32、le of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. When bulk tape products are applied, use NAVISTAR bulk part number, as shown in recommended size chart. All previous drawings specifying TMS-6910 withou
