SCOPE This commercial item description (CID) covers
2、electrically heated hot food storage wells of the drop-in type, with temperature control and drain. Wells shall be suitable for wet or dry operation. They are intended for Naval shipboard use in serving lines to keep food warm in steam table pans. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Design and constructi
3、on. The well shall be the drop-in type for counter or table installation. It shall consist of a seamless, drawn stainless steel pan and shall include: o Top perimeter supporting flanges b Integral drain Counter gasket b Heat distributing plate Heating element attached beneath the pan Insulation belo
4、w the heating element and along the sides Means of attaching the pan in the counter or table The well shall be encased by an outer housing of galvanized steel or other corrosion-resisting metal. A thermostatic control suitable for mounting in the counter front shall be provided, adjacent to the well
5、. The heating element and pilot light shall both energize when the control is turned on. Inside dimensions of the well pan shall be: 19-7/8 inches long by 11-7/8 inches wide by 6-1/8 inches deep (all with + 1/4 / - O inch tolerances). The perimeter flange shall be not less than 1/2 inch wide. The we

8、f 1/32 inch thick and of adequate size to cover the flat surface of the bottom of the well, shall be welded or securely clamped to the underside of the well. The heating element shall be the enclosed tubular type rated at not less than 1500 watts and shall be securely clamped to the underside of the
9、 heat distributing plate. The heating element shall be removable without the use of special tools. (Shipboard requirement, see 6.2) 2.3 Temperature control unit. A thermostat of the infinite temperature control type with a clearly marked OFF position shall be provided. The temperature control unit s
10、hall provide temperature adjustment within a range of not less than 120 to 190F, and at an intermediate setting (approximately 15OoF), it shall limit temperature variation to not more than f 20F. The temperature control unit shall be suitable for mounting in the counter front adjacent to the well pa
11、n. The adjustment knob on the temperature control unit panel shall either be recessed or have a protective shield to prevent acciden- tal breakage. An indicator light shall also be provided on the temperature control unit panel and shall be illuminated when the heating element is energized. 2.4 Gask
12、et. A gasket shall be provided to give the joint between the top perimeter flange of the well pan and the mounting surface a positive moisture seal. 2.5 Thermal insulation. Blanket-type thermal insulation shall be provided between the heating element and the base of the outer casing, and between the
13、 sides of the well pan and outer casing. The temperature of the base of the outer casing shall be not greater than 125F. 2.6 Drain. A drain shall be provided in the base of the well pan for draining water when wet operation is required. The drain shall be a stainless steel pipe welded to the well pa
14、n or a brass pipe brazed to the pan, and shall have standard 3/4 NPT threads on the outlet end. The inlet end of the drain pipe shall be smooth and flush with the surface of the well pan. stainless steel inlet strainer screen shall be provided. 15、ical requirements. The unit shall operate on 115 VAC, 60 Hz, single-phase power, as defined in MIL-STD-4399, Section 300, and shall have provisions for making direct (hardwired) connections for electric power (2 conductors) and for equipment grounding (1 conductor). All outermost metallic surfaces s
16、hall be grounded via the equipment grounding connection. The grounding resistance between any exposed metallic surfaces and the comon ground point shall be not greater than 0.1 ohm. Electrical components, other than the hermetically sealed motor, shall be provided in accordance with NEMA 250, Type 1
17、3 or equivalent enclosure protection. Metal parts of electrical components and enclosures shall be inherently corrosion resistant or shall be treated and processed for corrosion resistance in accordance with IEEE Standard 45. (Shipboard requirement, see 6.2) 2.8 Accessibility. The unit shall be phys
18、ically and visually accessible from the front for operation and for normal maintenance with tools, test equipment, and replacement parts. No special tools shall be required for access or parts replacement. 2.9 Environmental suitability. The unit shall be capable of withstanding ships vibration and m
19、otion. Controls, switches, moving parts, and electrical circuits shall operate under shipboard conditions without malfunction, binding, excessive looseness, or damage, when tested in accordance with MIL-STD-167-1, type I equipment. The unit shall be secured to the test machine in the same manner tha
20、t it will be secured on shipboard. The unit shall be in accordance with and certified to meet th
21、e applicable requirements of NSF 4 and UL 197. 2.11 Finish. Stainless steel shall have a type 2B or smoother finish, in accordance with ASTM A 480. 2.12 Label plates. The well shall be provided with a data nameplate and an instruction plate. normal operating use, and shall not adversely affect the l
22、ife and utility of the unit. They shall be attached to the unit, readily visible during 2.12.1 Data nameplate. The data nameplate shall contain the manufacturers name, model, serial number, date manufactured, and any other information needed to uniquely identify the unit. 2.12.2 Instruction plate. T
23、he instruction plate shall provide instructions for start-up, operation, and shut-down. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. 4. QUALITY
24、ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product conformance. The product provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the conirtercia1 market, or the same p
25、roduct that has been delivered to the Government for shipboard use on a previous procurement. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such compliance. 5. PACKAGING Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6. NOTES 6.1 Ordering data. Ti
