This commercial item description covers the types of electric forklifts listed below. In addition to the requirements stated elsewhere in this CID, each type of forklift truck must

8、56.1, UL 583 and with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards in effect at time of manufacture. The trucks shall bear the UL stamp of approval for the EE safety rating. Use of thermoplastic hoses such as SAE 517, 100R7 or 100R8 is prohibited. 3.3 Motors. All motors including traction motors sha
9、ll be designed for operation on 24 volt direct current. 3.4 Batterv and batterv accessories. Battery capacity for truck shall be as listed in paragraph 3.1. 2 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesA-A-5 94 93 3.5 Electrical connectors. Truck shall be equipped with standard EC mounting half connec
10、tors. The locking half mounted on the battery shall be located so that it can be actuated by the operator without leaving the compartment. Locking half connector including mounting hardware shall be fastened to the battery with bolts and not welded so that connector and hardware can be removed and r
11、einstalled. 3.6. Lubricants. The truck shall operate using only those lubricants listed in MIL-HDBK-267. 3.7 Structure. The frame and related structure shall be capable of withstanding 300 per cent overload without permanent deformation. 3.8 Forks. The forks and fork carrier shall conform to ANSI B5
12、6.11.4 or may be of the shaft type. Fork dimensions shall be 40 inches long, 4.125 inches wide, maximum and 2.125 inches thick, maximum. Fork spacing, measured between the outer edges of the forks, shall be 28 inches minimum spread and 16.5 inches maximum together. With no load on the forks, the ope
13、rator shall be able to see at least one fork tip at all lift heights and fork positions. 3.9 Fork Position. Forks when not centered during lowering operation shall stop between 13 inches and 9 inches(top of level forks to deck) at all reach positions from zero to maximum, at any amount of sideshift,
14、 right and left and any amount of load from zero to rated. Latter dimensions shall be adjustable from 14 inches to 9 inches. The lifting surfaces of the forks shall measure 3 inches plus minus .25 inches from the deck in the lowest fork position. Adjustment shall be provided to change this dimension
15、 from 4 inches to 2 inches plus minus .25 inches. With the forks level, centered, between the base legs, and at the lowest position, clearance between the deck and the bottom of the entire reach mechanism, shall be 1 inch minimum at all reach distances from zero to maximum and with any amount of loa
16、d on the forks from zero to rated. 3.10 Load centerincr svstem. The truck shall be equipped with a load centering system which shall prevent the fork carriage from being lowered below the base legs unless the fork carriage is centered. The system also shall prevent side shift when the forks are belo
17、w the base legs. The system shall include a green light mounted on the panel which shall indicate when the forks are centered. 3 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesA-A-5 94 93 The load centering system shall function with the forks in any reach position from full retracted to fully extended. 3
18、.11 Base lecrs. Overall height of base legs shall not exceed 6 inches (152 mm) when truck is empty, and overall width of the base legs shall not exceed the maximum allowable width of the truck. Base leg plates shall protect the top and sides of the load wheels. 3.12 Reach mechanism. The reach mechan
19、ism shall be a pantograph type and a sliding mast is not acceptable. It shall permit extension of the forks or fork assembly to a point where the front vertical face of the forks measures from O to .50 inch in front of the forward edge of the load wheels or base legs to permit handling of loads at d
20、eck level that are off center laterally or would otherwise conflict with the base legs or load wheels. With the forks level, centered, between the base legs, and at the lowest position, clearance between the deck and the bottom of the entire reach mechanism, shall be 1 inch minimum at all reach dist
21、ances from zero to maximum and with any amount of load on the forks from zero to rated. Bottom of the reach mechanism shall be chamfered 45 degrees by .25 inches to .50 inches, front and rear lowest edges. Clearance and chamfer is required to prevent the base of the reach mechanism from contacting a
22、nd bending shipboard elevator ramps during unloading/loading operations. Positive means shall be provided to prevent the rollers from leaving the reach track, such as a bar welded across the top of the track. Reach mechanism shall be strong enough to withstand accidental damage when side shifting th
23、e forks. 3.13 Wheels. There shall be two single steer/drive wheels and four load wheels two in each base leg. Wheels, when equipped with new tires, shall clear any part of the truck structure and mast structure by at least .25 inch under all conditions of operation. 3.14 Tires. The tires shall confo
24、rm to sizes and loadings as listed in the Tire and Rim Association (T&RA) Handbook and shall be static discharge type conforming to UL 583 type “EX“. The drive tires shall have a minimum thickness of 2.13 inches. Tire size for drive wheels shall be not less than 10 inches outside diameter by 6 inche
25、s face. Each drive tire shall provide a minimum of 15 square inches of tire to deck contact area. Steering shall be acc
26、omplished by a horizontal hand steering wheel. A steering lever or tiller is unacceptable. 3.16 Service brakes. The service brakes shall be of the hydraulic activated and mechanically released type. Brakes shall be designed to release in case of failure of the system, brakes shall not fail in the “o
27、n“ mode. Brake lining shall be of the non-asbestos type. 3.17 Travel disconnect. Travel disconnect system shall be provided, such that upon removal of the operators foot from a pedal located for left foot operation on both the operators platforms, the current to the traction motors will be interrupt
28、ed and the drive wheel brakes will be applied. The control system shall be so designed that when the circuit is broken, it can be activated only by resetting the directional control(s) when the operator assumes the operating position. 3.18 Parkincr brake. A hand operated parking brake with locking d
29、evice shall be installed. 3.19 Operators compartment. The operators compartment shall provide two platform levels. Distance from deck of ship to lowest platform shall be 7 inches minimum, 12 inches maximum. Distance from lowest platform to upper platform shall be 9 inches and height of operators com
30、partment shall be 53 inches from deck of ship. Upper platform shall provide a minimum of 19.5 inches wide by 14 inches deep at controls level and a minimum of 15.5 inches wide and 14.5 inches deep at floor level, deadman brake, service brake, and parking brake assembly excepted. Lower platform shall
31、 provide a minimum depth of 11 inches. Compartment shall have three enclosed sides with unobstructed entrance from the rear. Design of compartment shall allow truck operator to stand within plan outline of truck when truck is being operated and when truck is not being operated. Means shall be provid
32、ed for operator to maintain his balance when stopping suddenly while backing up, such as a vertical steel plate or a rubber pad on the side of the compartment. 3.20 Slincrincr and tie down provisions. Permanently affixed slinging and tie down provisions that enable the truck to be lifted in its norm
33、al travel position and to be fastened to the floor or deck of a transportation medium shall be provided. Provisions shall conform to MIL-STD-209, Classes 1 and 2 or Class 3 for type II or III equipment, excluding air transport requirements. 5 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesA-A-5 94 93 3.21
34、 Sideshift attachment. The truck shall be equipped with a sideshift attachment. Side shifter shall provide for a minimum movement of 3 inches on each side of center with rated load. 3.21.1 Alicrnment marks for side shift mechanism. Provide two alignment marks on frame or side shift fork carriage and
35、 two matching marks on the mast or non-shifting main fork carriage to assist operator in aligning side shift mechanism to center position. 3.22 Master switch. A key operated master switch shall be provided such that its removal deactivates all electrical control circuits. All trucks under each contr
36、act shall be keyed identically. Two (2) keys shall be supplied with each truck. 3.23 Hour meter. An electrically operated hour meter which registers the total number of hours of operation of the traction and pump motors shall be provided. 3.24 Flood licrht. The truck shall be equipped with one white
37、 sealed beam, 25 watt minimum floodlamp, shock mounted in an elastometer ring housing on the left side of the mast. Directional adjustment range of this light shall be a minimum of 45 degrees above and below the horizontal plane. Horizontal adjustment range shall be a minimum of 300 degrees to illum
38、inate front and rear areas. Adjustments shall not require use of hand tools. Adequate protection against damage, by means of position or guard, shall be provided. Light shall be mounted on a bracket which can be rotated to eliminate interference with the battery cover. 3.25 Warnincr device. The truc
39、k shall be equipped with an operator controlled warning device (e.9. horn). 3.26 Batterv Protector. Each truck shall be equipped with a battery protector to protect the battery from a dangerously low state of charge. 3.27 Wheel Position Indicator. Truck shall have a wheel position indicator showing
40、the position of at least one of the steerable drive wheels and visible to the operator in operating position. 6 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesA-A-5 94 93 3.28 Fork carriacre indicator. Truck shall be equipped with a green indicator light which glows green when the fork carriage is centere
41、d and it is safe to lower the forks to their lowest position (between the base legs) without any interference of the forks or carriage parts with any part of the truck. The light shall be installed on the panel in front of the operator where it is in sight of the operator at all times. 3.29 Liftincr
42、 speed. Minimum lifting speed over the entire distance from the ground to maximum fork height shall be 35 feet per minute empty and 30 feet per minute carrying rated load. 3.30 Lowering speed. The minimum lowering speed unloaded, from maximum fork height to ground shall be 80 feet minute. 3.31 Exten
43、sion and retraction time. Trucks shall be capable of fully extending and retracting the forks, with rated load on forks, in not less than 2.5 seconds nor more than 5 seconds maximum. 3.32 Reach. The minimum reach shall be 19.125 inches. 3.33 Speed. While carrying rated capacity on a level deck, truc
44、ks shall be capable of attaining a travel speed of 4 to 4.5 miles per hour in forward and reverse directions. 3.34 Slope ascension, forward direction. Trucks with and without rated load shall be capable of ascending straight up an 18 percent slope, in the forward direction. 3.35 Fork tilt. When carr
45、ying rated load, truck forks shall provide forward tilt of 2 degrees, plus or minus 0.5 degree and 4 degrees, minimum rearward tilt, plus or minus 0.5 degree. 3.36 Lift heicrht. The minimum fork height when bearing rated capacity load, measured from the ground to the load carrying surface of the for
46、ks and with a 24 inch load center, shall be not less than 68 inches. 3.37 Extended heicrht. The maximum height of the forklift with the mast in its fully extended position shall be 96 inches. 3.38 Overall lencrth. The maximum truck overall length shall be 105 inches. 3.39 Overall width. The maximum

The truck with rated load shall have sufficient underclearance to permit safe operation from one horizontal plane to another without scraping or dragging, using a slope of 18 percent
48、. Underclearance beneath the mast assembly, when in a true vertical position with rated load in retracted position shall be not less than 2.75 inches. Undercleareance shall be not less than 2.75 inches under the entire truck, except the space under the truck can be 1.75 inches minimum for a distance
49、 of 10 inches back from the rear load wheel and 10 inches in front of the drive wheel, both sides. Both distances are measured from the center lines of the wheel axles. 3.41 Lift assemblv drift. The lift assembly shall be capable of holding the rated load at maximum height and extension with not more than 1.75 inches of vertical and extension drift and not more than 1 degree of rotational drift from the vertical for a minimum of than 10 minutes. 3.42 Sideshift interference. No parts of the truck including mast assembly, forks, or related structures shall show any damage, permanent deform
