2、r use by all Departrents and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification avers requirements for cotton duck avers for the autombile distinguishing plate used by the Commanclant anil General Officers of the Marine Corps. 1.2 Classification. The avers shall be of one

3、type and two sizes, as spec- ified (see 6.2): Size 1 - 11 inches wide by 9 inches high (CMC) Size 2 - 10 1/4 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches high (General Officers) 2. 14、specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQuInEMENTs 3.1 Standard samples. Standard samples are furnished solely for guidance and Variation frcnn this specification my 3.2 First article. The cloth, before finishing, shall be 9.85 ounces per square yard, conforming to type III of CCC-C-419. 3.3.1.1 Color and

16、treatmnt. The mtton duck shall be dyed olive drab 7 and shall k water-repellent and mildew-resistant after treated in accordance with tupe I, class B of CE-D-950. 3.3.2 Thread, polyester. The thread shall coriform to type I or II, class 1, 3.3.2.1 Color and colorfastness. The thread shall be dye oli

17、ve drab shade S-1, cable No. 66022. The dyd threstd shall show mlorfastness to weathering, equal to or better than the standard sample when tested as specified in V-T-285. When m standard sample is available, the dye thread shall show good fastness to weathering when tested as specified in V-T-285.

The snap fasteners shall be brass, black finish, con- forming to style 224, finish 2, construction A of MIL-F-10884 and Mc-27981, except the button shall consist of the eyelet only, no shell or reinforcement required; the eyelets shall be s

Each cover shall have an identification label conforming to type I, class 1 of DDD-L-20

20、. The label shall be approximately 2 inches wide and 3 inches long and inserted inside the finished wver. The mver shail be as sham in Figure 1, consisting of a single piece of cotton duck folded and seamed to specified size and shape and the open end henaned and provided With snap fasteners. 3.5 Patterns. The stanjlard pattern furnished by the Government shall not be a

22、ltered rn any manner and shaI.1 be used only as a guide for cutting wrking pat- terns. - The standard patterns provide 3/8 inch seam allowance. 3.5.1 List of pattern parts. The avers shall be manufactured in strict acmrdanm with the operations and the stitch, seam and stitching types specified in Table I. 3.6.1.1 Oprations. The contractor is not required tn follow the exact se- quence of c

24、perations as listed in Table I but all operations specified shall be used to manufacture the cover. 3.6.1.2 Stitches, sem and stitching. The stitch, seam and stitching types specified in Table I shall oonfonn to I-ED-STD-751. The number of stitches per inch as specified in Table I indicates the mini

25、mum and maximum number permi.tted. QuALlTY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. nless otherwise cpecified in the contract or purchase order, the mntractor is responsible for the performance of all in-

32、spection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase arder, the contractor may use his awn or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserv

33、es the right to per- form any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed re- quirements . 4.1.1 Responsibility for comp liance. All items mist meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspe

34、ction set forth in this specification shall became a part of the mntractorts cnrerall inspection system or quality program. The a- sence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies suhit- ted to

Sapling in quality mnformance does not authorize submission of hm defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it amit the Goverment to accept defective material. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection req
