REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General, Materials, parts and assem- blies shall comply with the requirements specified on the applicable drawings, refer- enced specifications and the following : 3.2 Torque. 11、Assembly 3.3.1 The flange face surface of the plug shall be in complete contact with the car- tridge. 3.3.2 The block shall be free to rotate 360 degrees, 3.4 Residual magnetism. The catapult shall not deflect the indicator of the compass more than 3 degrees in either direction when passed in front
12、of the compass at a distance of 6 inches. 3.5 Functional. 3.5.1 Ballistics. Catapults loaded with ac- cepted M36 cartridges shall propel a 350 pound mass vertically and shall comply with the requirements listed in Table II. 3.5.2 The catapult shall not fail to fire. 3.5.3 The catapult shall function
13、 without mechanical failure (see 6.1). 3.6 Workmanship. The requirements for workmanship are as specified on the applica- ble drawings, referenced specifications and the following : 3.6.1 Metal defects. All components shall be free from cracks, splits, cold shuts, in- clusions, porosity or any simil

Reference shall be made to MILSTD- 109 to define the quality assurance terms used. 4.1.2 Impection. Inspection shall be made in accordance with MIL-A-255
18、0 and MIL- 145208, except as specified herein. 4.2 Inspection provisions. 4.2.1 Lot. 4.2.1.1 Presentation of lots. The product shall be presented in accordance with MIL STD-105 or MIGSTD-414, as applicable. TABLE III. 4.2.1.2 Size of lot. A lot shall consist of an identifiable group of assembled uni
19、ts con- taining metal parts assemblies produced by a homogeneous process and loaded with a single lot of cartridges. 4.2.2 Examimtiott. One hundred percent examination shall be performed for all critical critical defects. Examination for major and minor defects shall be performed on a defect basis i
20、n accordance with the classification of defects contained herein, using the sampling plan and associated criteria in table III. The total number of allowable defects per class for either the major or minor classification shall not exceed the acceptance number of table III. All non- conforming materi
21、al shall be rejected. Four power (4X) magnification may be used in performing visual examination for such defects as burr and foreign matter. The following tests shall be performed in accordance with 4.3, except
30、 as provided in MIL-145208. 4.2.3.1 Breakaway torque. A breakaway torque shall be applied to each catapult threaded joint listed in table I. Failure of any catapult to comply with the requirements of 3.2 shall be cause for rejection of the catapult. 4.2.3.2 Residuul magnetism. Each assem- bly shall
31、be tested for excessive residual magnetism. Failure of any assembly to com- ply with the requirements of 3.4 shall be cause for rejection of the catapult. 4.2.3.3 Fumtbnal. The following tests shall be performed by the Government. 4.2.3.3.1 Ballistics. Twenty-one units shall be tested to determine c
32、ompliance with the requirements of 3.5.1, 3.5.2 and 3.5.3. The units shall be temperature conditioned as provided in table IV and 4.3.3.1.1. The vaiables sampling plan of MIL-STD-414, example C-2, for the AQL listed in table IV shall be used for each sample of 7 units. Failure of any unit to comply
33、with the re- quirements of 3.6.1, 3.6.2 and 3.5.3 or failure of a sample to meet the criteria of the varia- bles sampling plan shall be cause for rejection of the lot.
