All materials used in the manufacture of the car- tridges shall conform strictly with the specifications referenced on the respective NAVAIR rawings unless specific

Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, a preproduction sample of 70 cartridges shall be manufactured using the game methods and procedures proposed for the production lot. is for the purpose of determining that the contractor, prior to starting production, is capable
14、 of producing items which comply with the technical requirements of the contract. The sample shall be tested as specified in 4.3.2 and 3.3 Primary components. For the purposes of this specification the primer and the main charge propeant are defined as primary cmponents . See 4.3.3. 3.4 Primer. The
15、primers shall be furnished from lots manufactured within the preceding twelve months. The-primers shall be 50M loaded with Remington Arms Primer Mixte 506iw, manufactured in accordance with Drawing C-7645339 and shall be from lots which were accepted in accordance with MIL-P-46610, Cass i. 17、ous; cracked or off-center anvil or other misplaced or deformed inert parts; andl abnormally close to primer cup dome; and all other observable defects in assembly. missing or abnormally thin 3.5 Propellant charge. 3.5.1 Quantity. All main propellant charges and booster charges shall be as specified
18、 on Drawings 2518226 and 2518228, respectively. Charges shaU be determined by weight rather than by volume measurements. 3.5.2 Smokeless powder, handling and loading. Do not subject the smokeless powder to unnecessary handling or exposure to the atmosphere. The handling and loading of smokeless powd
19、er exposed to the atmosphere shall be performed only under conditions that do not permit the relative humidity to excee 75 percent. . 3.5.3 Smokeless powder, condition. The smokeless powder utilized shall exhibit no evidence of decomposition. See 4.7.3. 3.6 Cartridge inspection. 3.6.1 Visual inspect

Cartridges shall be free of the following visible defects: split or cracked lip in the crimped area, damaged closure disc, incom- plete or improper sealant application, or any other imperfections which could prevent entry into the firing chamber, .or adversely affect performance or resistance t
