SCOPE
2、1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for the manufacture and acceptance of the JAU-73A/A Initiator, Cartridge Actuated (Initiator) used for the internal Initiator handle on the V-22 Emergency Escape Hatch Removal System (EEHRS). 1.2 Application. This Initiator was developed for use
3、in the Emergency Egress Hatch Removal System as the internal Initiator and is used at all six location on V-22 Aircraft, and its variants. No changes to the configuration will be permitted without the authorization from the Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Code 50. 2. APPLICABLE D

16、takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, superseded applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to the first article inspection, T
17、able I, and the first article test plan in Table II, as specified in sections 4.2.1 and 6.3. A first article inspection shall be required if two years or more has passed since the Initiator or a similar item were manufactured, major turn over in personnel, major changes to the production facility or
18、 transfer of production to a new facility or site. 3.2 Flight critical part. The Initiators are flight critical items, as defined in 6.4.1, and relate to personnel safety and emergency egress and as such the technical data package shall be identified and procured as such. 3.3 Design and construction
19、. The following applies to the qualification status and configuration control of the Initiators over the entire life of the item. 3.3.1 Identical configuration. The Initiators design and construction shall be identical to that subjected to qualification testing as documented on 3205AS106, and approv
20、ed for service use by the Navy. 3.3.2 Configuration control. This item is a configuration-controlled device. Only the Initiators procured from the vendor(s) listed on drawing 3205AS106 are approved for the application specified. 3.4 Initiator production. The Initiators shall be manufactured in accor
21、dance with drawings listed on 3205AS106. Each production Initiator shall meet the requirements of 3.4.1 through 3.4.4 as outlined in Table I. Failure of any Initiator to meet the requirements of Table I shall result in rejection of the lot of Initiators. 3.4.1 Visual inspection. The Initiator shall

23、event the installation of the Initiator. Each Initiator shall meet the requirements of the drawings 3205AS106. 3.4.2 In-process inspections. The following are the minimum in-process inspections required for product integrity. 3.4.2.1 Corrosion. All components scheduled for use in production shall be
24、 free of corrosive products (see 4.1.3) 3.4.2.2 X-ray examination. Each Initiator shall be x-rayed along the longitudinal axis. When radiographs are examined in accordance with 4.3.2, the Initiator shall show proper assembly, presence of all parts, and sealing in accordance with a Government approve
25、d radiographic acceptance criteria (RAC). The radiographic inspection shall show no foreign materials present. All defects shall be identified on the film and defective Initiators removed from the lot. 3.4.2.3 N-ray examination. Each Initiator shall be N-rayed along the longitudinal axis. When radio
26、graphs are examined in accordance with 4.3.2, the Initiator shall show proper order, presence and condition of parts in accordance with approved radiographic inspection criteria. All defects shall be identified on the film and defective Initiators removed from the lot. 3.4.2.4 Arming Force Verificat
27、ion. Each Initiator handle subassembly will be 100% inspected for correct arming force between 6 to 15 lbs and function during the manufacturing process. 3.5 Initiator First Article Test environmental exposure. The Initiator shall meet all requirements of 3.5.1 through 3.5.5 and the acceptance crite

29、.1 Vibration. The Initiator shall not function or incur any internal/external damage or degradation when vibration cycles are applied in accordance with 4.3.4. The Initiator shall be x-ray inspected per 3.4.2.2 after completion of vibration. Initiators will then be subjected to shock testing per 3.5
30、.2. 3.5.2 Shock. 31、) 5applied in accordance with 4.3.5. The Initiator shall be x-ray inspected per 3.4.2.2 after completion of vibration. Initiators will then be functionally tested per 3.5.5. 3.5.3 Temperature-shock/humidity/altitude (TSHA) cycling. The Initiator shall not function or incur any internal/external dama
32、ge or degradation when subjected to TSHA cycling in accordance with 4.3.6. The Initiator shall be visually inspected per 3.5.1 and then functionally tested per 3.5.5. 3.5.4 Six-foot drop. The Initiator shall not initiate or incur any major internal/external damage or degradation as a result of the s
33、ix-foot drop test in accordance with 4.3.7. The Initiator shall be visually inspected per 3.4.1 and then functionally tested per 3.5.5. 3.5.5 Functioning. The Initiator shall meet the requirements of 3.5.5.1, or 3.5.5.2, when fired in accordance with 4.3.7 between the temperature range of 65oF and +
34、200oF. 3.5.5.1 Arming Force. The Initiator shall arm with an applied force of 6 to 15 lbs. between the temperature range of 65oF and +200oF. 3.5.5.2 Actuation Force. The Initiator shall fire with an applied force between 20 to 35 lbs. across the operational temperature range of 65oF and +200oF. 3.6
35、Workmanship. The Initiator shall be constructed and finished in a manner to assure compliance with all requirements of this specification and associated drawings. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspections. a. First article inspection (see 4.2.1) b. Production inspection (see 4.2.2) c. Lot ac

Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), all inspections shall be performed in accordance with the test conditions specified in 4.2.1, 4.2.2 and 4.2.3. 4.1.2 Interchangeability. The contractor shall conduct inspections of the production lot t
37、o verify total interchangeability of the mounting provisions and port connection. 4.1.3 Corrosion. To meet the requirements of paragraph 3.4.2.1, all parts shall be visually inspected to assure there are no corrosion products on the hardware and that the threads are coated with dry film lubrication.
38、 4.1.4 Arming Force Verification. During sub-assembly manufacturing the arming force per 3.4.2.4 shall be 100 % verified and documented on work sheets. 4.2 Inspections. 39、rticle inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2), a first article inspection sample of 24 Initiators conforming to the drawing 3205AS106, shall be subjected to first article testing. These Initiators shall be inspected to the requirements of Table I. Twenty-o
40、ne (21) of these Initiators shall be expended in the tests listed in Table II and the government shall retain the remaining three for investigative purposes. Any damage inflicted by the environmental exposures, which would adversely affect the performance or service life of the item in service appli
41、cation shall be cause for rejection of the first article sample. Any production prior to notification by the contracting agency of the first article sample acceptability shall be at the contractors risk. Failure of any Initiator to comply with the requirements of section 3 shall be cause for rejecti
42、on of the first article represented. 4.2.2 Production inspection. To meet the requirements of 3.4, all production Initiator manufactured under the contract shall be inspected and screened for defects. Initiators failing to meet the requirements listed in Table I shall be rejected and removed from th
43、e lot. 4.2.3 Lot acceptance inspection. Lot acceptance inspection shall consist of the examinations and tests specified in Table III. Failure of any sample Initiator to comply with the requirements listed in Table III shall be cause for rejection of the lot represented. Packaging defects shall be co
