In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this 1 specification shall take
13、precedence. i , 3. REQUIRFMENTS 3.1 Guide samples. The guide samples are furnished solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). Variation from the specification my appear in the sample, in which case the specification shall govern. 3.2 First article. Unless otherwise specified (s
14、ee 6.2) , before production is cwrmienced, a finished fly tent shall be submitted, or made available to the contracting officer or his authorized representative for approval. The approval of the first article authorizes the- mmencement of production, but does not relieve the contractor of responsibi
15、lity for carpliance with applicable provisions of the specification. “he first article shall be manufactured by the supplier in the same facilities to be used for the manufacture of the production items. 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Cloth, cotton, duck. The cloth, before finishing, shall be 9.85 ounce per q
16、uare yard, anforming to MIL-C-43627. The cotton duck shall be dyed Olive drab 7. 3.3.2 Thread, polyester. The thread shall conform to type I or type II, class 1, subclass B, size E, of V-T-285. The thread shall be dyed Olive drab shade S-1 (Cable No. 66022). The dyed thread shall show good fastness
17、to weathering. 3.3.3 Line, tent. The rope for the lines shall be manila or sisal, 1 inch circumference, 11 feet 6 inches long, conformincl to type XIX, clws A for manila rope or class B for sisal rope of MIL-L-1709. In lieu of stitching or serging the end of the lines with thread or twine in order t
18、o prevent raveling, the end may be bound with brass wire or may be finished with rust- resistant wire clips. 3.3.4 Slips, tent line. The tent line slips shall conform to type II of MIL-S-1734. 3.3.5 Gromnets and washers. Grcmniets and washers shall be brass, black oxide finish, rolled rim grmunet, s
19、pur washer, conforming to type III, class 3, No. 4 and No. 7 of MIL-G-16491. Grommets and washers for the side edges of the fly shall be No. 4, and for the back and front edges shall be No. 7, as shown in Drawing No. P-196. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Bspnsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for

Except as otherwise specified in contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government.

Each fly, packaged as specified in 5.1 shall be wrapped and sewn
41、in cotton, osnaburg cloth mnforming to class 2 of CCCX-429 or burlap cloth conforming to class 3 of EC-C-467. The wrapping shall be sewn with 16-ply cotton twine conforming to TII-871, with approximately one stitch to the inch and every third stitch knotted. Five inches of surplus covering shall be
42、gathered together on each of the four corners and securely sewn into ears for handles. Alternatively, the cloth may be packed in a snug fitting tubing form and closed in the manner specified above. Each bundle shall be strapped, girthwise, with four flat steel straps mnforming to type I, class B, gr
43、ade 2 of QQ-S-781, spaced equal distances apart. Each fly, packaged as specified in 5.1, shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination at the lowest transportation rate. (c) Applicable levels of packwing and packing (see 5.1 and 5.2). (d) When palletization is required (see 5.4) 6.2.2 Data requirements. Wh
49、en this specification is used in an acquisition which incorprates a DD Form 1423, mntract Data Requirements List (CDRL), the data requirements identified below shall be develo,i?ed as specified by an approved Data Item Description (DD Form 1664) and delivered in accordance with the approved CDRL incorporated into the contract.
