RY SPECIF 1 TION NAVIGATIONAL SET, TACAN AN/ARN -52 (V) This specification has been approved by the Naval Air Systems Command, Department of the Navy. 1. SCOPE 1. 1 Scope - The equipment covered by this specifica

2、tion shall, when installed in aircraft, provide bearing, distance and tone identity information to indicate the location of a complementary surface station with respect to the aircraft. information to indicate the link distance with respect to a similarly equipped aircraft, This equipment is the air

11、ing permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-N-22233C 58 m 3937906 0350872 O MIL - N-2 2 23 9C (AS ).) 3.3 Design and Construction - The equipment shall conform with all the applicable requirements of Specification MIL-E-5400 for design, construction and workmanship, except as otherwise specified

12、herein. 3.3.1 Total Weight - The total weight of the equipment excluding cables, shall be a minimum consistent with good design and shall not exceed 51 pounds. 3.3.2 Reliability: 3.3.2. 1 Operational Stability - The equipment shall operate with sktisfactory performance, continuously or intermittentl

13、y for a period of at least 250 hours without the.necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible to the operator during normal use. 3. 3.2.2 Operating Life - The equipment shall have tota operating life of 5000 hours with reasonable servicing and replacement of parts. Parts requiri

14、ng scheduled replacement shall be specified by the contractor. 3. 3.2. 3 Equipment Reliability in Mean-Time-Between-Failures (MTBF) - The e.quipment shall have 150 hours of mean (operating) time between failures when tested and accepted as outlined under the requirements of 4.4.3. *3.3.2.4 Time Tota

15、lizing Meter - The equipment shall contain time totalizing meters in accordance with Specification MIL-M-7793. Meters shall be included in the following units: Unit RT- 3 8 4 f A RN- 52 (V) RT -38yRN-52(V) RT -8 93 ARN- 52 (V) 3.3.3 Cabling and Connections: 3.3.3. 1 Cables and Connectors - The equip

16、ment shall provide for the use of cables and connectors in accordance with Specification MIL-E-5400. 3.3.3.2 Interconnection Cabling - The equipment shall be capable of satisfactory operation using external wiring in accordance with the applicable requirements of Specification MIL- W-5088. The exter

17、nal wiring shall be unshielded, except that a minimum number of the individual wires may be shielded when demonstrated as necessary to meet interference control requirements and provided the assembly of the cable to its plugs may be easily accomplished. External cables and that portion of the connec

18、tors attached to the cables shall not be supplied as part of the equipment. 3.3.4 Control Panels - All rack or console mounted control panels shall conform to the applicable requirements of Specification MIL-C-6781. of all control panels must be approved by the procuring activity prior to preproduct

20、 parts of a designated model of any previausly manufacturrd equipment, supplied or deeignated by the procuring activity. 3. 3.6 interference Control - The generation of radio inter- ference by the equipment and the vulnerability of the equipment to radio interfor- ence shall be controlled within the

21、 limits of Specification MIL-1-6181. 3.3.7 Maintenance Provisions and Field Testing - Provisions for maintenance shall be as specified in Specification MIL-E-5400, Specific test pointa and test facyities shall be provided to the greatest extent practicable for ease of field testing and maintenance.

22、3.3.8 Nomenclature and Nameplates - Nomenclature assignment and nameplate approval for equipment identification shall be in accord- ance with Specification MIL-N-18307. 3.3.9 Standard Conditions - The following conditions shall be used to establish normal performance characteristics under standard c

23、onditions and for making laboratory bench tests, Temperature Room ambient (25OC f 5C) Al ti tude Normal ground Vibration None Humidity Room ambient-up to 90% relative humidity Input power voltage 115 f 1.0 VAC and - 27.5 f O. 5 VDC 3.3.10 Service Conditions - The equipment shall operate satisfactori

24、ly under any of the environmental service conditions or reasonable combination of these conditions as specified in Specification MIL-E-5400 for Class 3X equipment, except as modified herein: 3.3. 10.1 Vibration - The equipment shall operate satisfactorily when subjected to the vibration requirements

25、 of Curves IV and II of Specification MIL-E- 5400, 3, 3, 10.2 Temperature - The equipment shall operate satisfac- torily when subjected to the temperature requirements of Specification MIL-E-5400 TABLE II Class 3 equipment except that the requirement in Column III for short time operation shall not

38、a blanking pulse output during the time of its own transmission in the T/R (transmit-receive) and A/A (air-to-air) modes which will cause blanking of other equipment operating in the same frequency band, 3.4.2 Characteristics of TACAN Signals - This equipment shall operate with pulse code and pulse

39、amplitude type signals of a surface or air facility meeting the requirements of MIL-STD-291. * 3.4.3 Frequency Characteristics - One hundred twenty-six (126) crystal controlled frequency channels shall be provideA at one megacycle spacing. In the T/R mode, channels 1 through 63 shall pair receiver f

40、requencies 962 through 1024 megacycles with transmitter frequencies 1025 through 1087 megacycles, and channel8 64 through 12G shall pair receiver frequencies 1151 thraigh 1213 megacycles with transmitter frequencies 1088 through 1150 megacycles, in the REC and T/R modes the receiver shall be tuned i

41、dentically, in the A/A mode, channels 1 through 63 shall pair receiver frequencies 1088 through 1150 megacycles with transmitter frequencies 1025 through 1087 megacycles, and channels 64 through 126 shall pair receiver frequencies 1025 through 1087 megacycles with transmitter frequencies 1088 throug

Modulation Characteristics - Modulation characteristics shall be as follows when the RF pulse envelope te detected by a linear detector: .-! (1) Puise Top - The instantaneous

43、magnitude of the pulse shall not, at any instant between the point on the leading edge which is 95% of the pulse amplitude and the point on the trailng edge which is 8570 of the pulse amplitude, fall below Q5% of the pgdse amplitude. 48、or switch shall control the receiver-transmitter as follows: (1) In the OFF position, all primary power to the receiver-transmitter shall be off, (2) In the REC position, the receiver-transmitter shall be energized, allowing the receiver portion of the unit to operate for bearing and identity tone f

49、unctions on any channel, (3) in the T/R position, the transmitter portion of the unit will also be energized and in addition to bearing and identity tone functions will allow the transmission of interrogation pulses to the ground beacon and receive the distance response pulse from the beacon as distance information, (4) in the A/A position, the receiver-transmitter shall be energired and perform as a transponder for distance informati
