SCOPE 1.1 Scope, This specification covers minimum performance and safety requirememor a mu1 tichannel Radio Set (Transceiver), AN/URC-( 1, utilizing frequency modulation in the 156 megahertz (MHz) through 162 MHz frequency range. The Radio Set, hereinafter referred

3、 to as the equipment, shall provide voice communications subject to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regul ations associated with shipboard stations in the Mari time Service. 2. Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations, u

REUU I REMENTS 3.1 General The equipment, including parts, materials, and processes, shall comply withrequi rements of MIL-E-16400G aiid FCC ru1 es and rcyul ations, to the extent specified herein, The equipment shall be a very high frequency (VHF) fr

21、equency modulated (FM) bridge-to-bridge mari time communications set for shipboard, and small boats and craft installations. The equipment shall use microcircuit techniques and sol id-state technology to the maxiinuin extent practical 3.1.1 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase o

22、rder, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3 and 6.3). 3.1.2 Description. The equipment shall contain a receiver/transmitter (R/T) capable of provi ding 55 selectable transmitting channel s and 61 selectable receiving channels, The equipment shall be designed for both simpl

23、ex operation (fl/fl) (see 6.5.1) and half duplex operation (fl/f2) (see 6.5.2) in accordance with the channelization requirenents of 3.1.10 over the frequency range of 156.025 MIiz to 162.550 MHz. equipment shall have one operated guard receiver fixed-tuned to 156.650 MHt (channel-13) The equipment

25、see 6.5.5) system capable of detecting faults in every module in the R/T unit. Channel selection shall be accomplished by keying the relevant number of the key pad for rapid selection of the emergency frequency channel (channel-16). The equipment shall operate from a single antenna with both receive

26、rs operating continuously, except during transmissions. 3.1.3 Design and construction. Design and construction of the equipment shall conform to the requirements of MIL-E-16400G to the extent specified herein. The equipment shall be designed and fabricated using solid-state electronic circuitry thro

27、ughout without the use of vacuum tubes and electromechanical tuning for frequency selection (see NAVELEX 0967-LP-464-8010 for guidance). Design and construction shall be as specified in 3.1.3.1 through 3.1.6. 3.1.3.1 Parts, materials, and processes. Parts, materials, and processes for the equipment

28、shall be in accordance with the Parts, materials and processes paragraph of MIL-E-l6400G, except as specified in 3,1.3.1.1 through 3.1.3.1.1.6. 3.1.3.1.1 Parts. Parts shall be as specified in 3.1.3.1.1.1 through 3.1.3.1.1.6. 3.1.3.1.1.1 Parts control. The parts to be incorporated in the equipment sh

29、all be control 1 ed in accordance with MIL-STD-965, Procedure I. 3.1.3.1.1.2 Mi croel ec t ron i c inodul ar as sembl i es. assemblies and devices employed in the design of the equipment shall comply with Class B requirements of MIL-M-38510. MIL-HDBK-175 shall be used as guidance in the selection an

30、d application of all microelectronic devices used in the equipment. Al 1 mi c roe1 ec troni c 3.1.3.1.1.3 Module sockets. All module sockets shall be readily accessible for easy removal and replacement. 3.1.3.1.1.4 Printed wiring boards (PWBs). PWBs shall conform to MIL-STD-454, Requirement 17. 3.1.

31、3.1.1.5 Printed circuit (PC) cards. PC cards shall conform to the requirements of 3.1.3.1 with respect to design, connectors, components, and assembly (see 6.5.4 an3 6.5.9). With power applied to the equipment, removal or insertion of PC assemblies shall not damage the assembly or any other part of

32、the equipment. Each assembly shall be keyed to prevent incorrect insertion. PC cards containing electrostatic discharge sensitive (ESDS) (see 6.5.7) components shall be prominently marked with the sensi tive electronic device symbol in accordance with MIL-STD-129, in a position readily visible when

33、installed. Handset 3.1.7 FCC rules. The equipment shall have been type-accepted and certified under the FCC rules and regulatio

41、ns governing stations on shipboard in the Maritime Service (Part 83) for operation after 1 January 1973. 3.1.8 System deviation and channel spacing. The equipment shall be designed for narrowband operation. Narrowband operation shall be in operation with radio frequency (RF) channels spaced 25 kiloh

42、ertz (kHz) apart with a maximum frequency deviation of *5 kHz at 100 percent modulation. 3.1.9 Emission characteristics. Emission characteristics of 16F3 for narrowband operation shall be in accordance with FCC Rules, Part 83. 3.1.10 Channelization. The guard receiver shall be single channel, fixed

43、tuned, preprogrammed, and aligned to operate on 156.650 MHz prior to shipment. The main transmitter and receiver shall be preprogrammed and aligned to operate on the frequencies specified in TABLE I. The radio set shall be capable of operating in both the US and International modes of operation. The
