WQUIREMENTS 3.1 General.- Materials, parts, and assemblies shall comply with the requirements specified on the applicable drawings and referenced specifica- tions 3.2 Initial production sample.- Unless otherwise di
7、rected by the contracting officer, an initial production sample shall be required. 3.3 Material,- The contractor shall be responsible for selecting from the classification list contained in the raw material specification, the surface and physical condition of the raw material intended for use in man
8、u- facture. 3.4 Physical properties,- Physical properties required by the drawings shall be uniform throughout the part within specified tolerances. Require- ments for all alloy steel parts shall be achieved by quenching and tempering. 3,5 Hydrostatic pressure.- The inside and outside tube shall wit
9、hstand a constant internal pressure of 2700 pounds per square inch (psi), minimum, for B period of 15 seconds, minimum, without application of any external load and shall show no evidence of leakage or mechanical failure (See 6.1). 3.6 Sh,ear pin strength.- After application of protective finish, th
10、e pin shall shear when a load of 400 2 50 pounds is applied at the steady rate of 0.25 inches per minute. 37 Structural strength.- The metal parts assembly shall be capable of withstanding each test load shown in Table I for a period of 15 seconds, minimum. The maximum allowable change between mount
11、ing points, resulting from each load application, shall not exceed the values specified in Table I. A preload of 500 pounds shall be utilized for each test load application. 29、thods and procedures. 4.4.1 Hardness.- Prior to the application of protective f ness tester shall be used to determine compliance with the hardness require- ments specified on the detail drawings. 4.4.2 Hydrostatic pressure.- Prior to the application of protective. finish, the inside and outside tub
30、es shall be mounted in the test device and subjected to an internal hydrostatic pressure to determine compliance with the requirements of 3.5. The test device used shall internally seal the tube within 1-1/2 inches of each end without applying any axial load other than that applied by the liquid pre
31、ssure. 4.4.3 Shear pin strength.- After application of protec pin shall be subjected to the shear strength test to dete with the requirements of 3.6. conjunction with a tensile testing machine.
