13、EQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide sample. Samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). Variations from this specification may appear in the sample, in which case this specification shall govern. * 3.2 First article. When specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall
14、furnish sample unit(s) for first article inspection and approval (see 4.3). 3.3 Material. 3.3.1 Basic material. 3.3.1.1 Class 1 shorts. The basic material for class 1 shorts shall be polyester/cotton, crease-resistant finish cloth, Khaki 2101 conforming to Class 1 of MIL-C-29127. 3.3.1.2 Class 2 sho
15、rts. The basic material for class 2 shorts shall be polyester/cotton, crease-resistant finish cloth, White 3006 conforming to Class 2 of MIL-C-29127. * 3.3.2 Pocketing. cloth, unbleached, for class 1 and class 3 shorts and bleached white for class 2 shorts, conforming to type III of MIL-C-326. As an
16、 alternate, a twill cloth conforming to class 1 of BIIL-C-43718 may be used. The material for pocketing shall be cotton silesia * 3.3.3. Lining. The material for waistband lining, right fly lining and left fly interlining shall be cotton silesia cloth, unbleached for class 1 shorts and bleached whit
17、e for class 2 shorts, conforming to type I of MIL-C-326. The material for interlining the w
18、aistband shall be cotton buckram cloth, natural in color for class 1 shorts and bleached white for class 2 shorts, conforming to type II, class 1 of CCC-C-438. 3.3.5 Thread and gimp. 3.3.5.1 Thread, polyester, cotton-covered. The thread for seaming and stitching the shorts shall be a polyester cotto
19、n-covered thread conforming to MIL-T-43548 in the following sizes may be used: - Us e Ticket No. piy Seaming and tacking 40, 50 Overedging 70 Button sewing 20 2 or 3 2 2 or 3 3.3.5.2 w. The cotton gimp for buttonhole shall conform to NO. 8, type I or II of V-T-280. 3.3.5.3 Color of thread and gimp.

The thread and gimp shall be dyed 3.3.5.3.1 Colorfastness. * 3.3.5.3.1.1 Colorfastness of thread. to laundering, chlorine bleaching and light, equal to or better than the standard sample. When no standard
21、sample is available, the dyed thread shall show “good“ fastness to laundering, chlorine bleaching, and light when tested as specified in V-T-276 or MIL-T-43548. The short shall have two side quarter top pockets, two hip pockets, a separate waistband, back darts and hemmed leg bottoms. * 3.4.1 Figures. W
23、hen inconsistencies exist between the specification and the figures, the written specification shall govern. * 3.5 Patterns. be furnished by the Government (see 6.3). The patterns allow a 114 to 318 inch (0.6 to 1.Ocm) seam allowance for all seams, except hip pocket seams, joining of flies to right
24、and left fronts, where 114 inch (0.6cm) allowance is provided, inseams and outseams where 112 inch (1.3cm) allowance is pro- vided and seat seam where 718 inch (2.2cm) outlet is provided. The working patterns shall be identical to the Government patterns. Government patterns nor the working patterns

27、fly lining 3.6 Construction. 3.6.1 Stitches, seams, and stitchings. Stitch, seam, and stitching types, Where as specified in Table I shall conform to FED-STD-751. or stitch types are given for the same operation, any one may be used. stitch type 401 is used, the looper (underthread) shall be on the

Thread breaks (all stitch types) shall be secured by stitching back of the break not less than 1/2 inch (1.3cm). may be repaired using 301 stitch t
30、ype. stitching shall overlap not less than 1/2 inch (1.3cm). * 3.6.4 Buttonholes. cut, and correctly positioned. with the purling on the outside. taper bar type, with ends tacked, and worked over gimp. The cut length shall be 5/8 to 3/4 inch (1.6 to 1.9cm). The bar end of buttonhole shall have a min

33、quence of operations. * 3.7.1 Shade and size marking. The component parts of the shorts shall be marked to insure a uniform shade and size throughout the garment. Any method may be used except: (a) Corrosive metal fastening devices (b) Sew-on type tickets (c) Adhesive type tickets which show discolo
34、ration and the adhesive mass adheres to the material upon removal of the tickets. * 3.7.2 Pressing. with a heated pressing iron or machine. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all in - spection requirements as specified herein. in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any
45、 other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein unless disapproved by the Government. perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to the prescribed re

Where certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. J; 4.2 Classification of inspecti
