Packaging shall be level A or C as specified (see 6.23. 5.1.1 Level A. Bach tarpaulin shall be folded into
24、a neat and compact bundle of a sizmt the carrying bag, care being exercised to1 expel as nuch air as possible from between the folds during each folding operation. Each tarpaulin of the same type shall be folded in the same manner, with the portion of the tarpaulin containing the identification mark
25、ings on the outside. shall be enclosed in a carrying bag. practice. Each tarpaulin 5.1.2 Level C. The tarpaulins shall be packaged in.accordance with industrys 5.2 Packing. Packing shall ba level A or C as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.1 Level A. Each tarpaulin, folded and enclosed in a carrying bag as c
26、 3 specified in 5.1, shall be covered with either cloth, osnaburg cotton, conforming to class 2 of CCC-C-429, or cloth, burlap, jute (or kenaf) conforming to class 2 of (XC-C-467. forming to type II, class 1 of T-T-871, approximately one stitch per inch and every third stitch knotted; the surplus co
27、vering at each corner of the bundle shall be gathered together and securely sewn to form 5-inch long ears for handles. Alternatively, the covering material specified may be in the form of tubing presewn at one end and,after insertion of the bag enclosed tarpaulin, wire tied or sewn at the end. The c
28、over shall be securely sewn with 16-ply cotton twine con- . 5.2.2 Level C. Tarpaulins, packaged as specified in 5.1, shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination. Containers shall be in accordance with Uniform Classification Rules or regulations of other
29、carriers applicable to the mode of transportation, 5.3 Msrkin . Each pack shall be marked for shipment in accordance with require- ients -+ speci ied in MIL-STD-129 for cloth-covered bundles and the markings are to be applied as follows: A panel of yellow or buff waterproof color, covering an area o
30、f not less than 2 square feet, shall be painted on the cover on one of the flat sides of each bundle. When painting, care shall be exercised to prevent any paint from getting on the bag. The following markings and information shall be stenciled or printed in the upper two-thirds of the panel with bl
