SCOPE 1.1 Purpose This specification covers the requirements for brush plating of low-hardness, low-stress nickel by electrodeposition. 1.2 Application This process has been used typically to improve the corrosion and oxidation resistance of steel alloys, to repair damaged, worn, or mis
6、machined parts requiring low residual surface stress, to prepare surfaces for brazing, and to repair nickel electrodeposits on parts with service a temperature up to 700 F (371 C) but is not limited to such applications. 1.3 Safety - Hazardous Materials See AMS 2451. 2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS See AMS 2451. 3.1 Procedure 3.1.1 Nickel shall be electrodeposited from a sulfamate nickel brush plating solution in accordance with instructions from the solution manufacturer. The plating solution shall contain no addition agents, including stress-reducing agents, w
8、hich might have a detrimental effect on properties of the plate or of the basis metal. 9、 The requirements of AMS 2451 shall apply. 3.2.2 Hardness The hardness of the deposit shall be no greater than 300 HV, or equivalent. 3.2.3 Stress The residual stress in the deposit shall be within the range of 5 ksi (34.5 Mpa) compressive, to 15.0 ksi (103 Mpa) tensile. 3.2.4 Heat Resistance The re
10、quirements of AMS 2451 shall apply. 3.2.5 Corrosion Resistance The requirements of AMS 2451 shall apply. Specimens shall be plated to a thickness of 0.0003 to 0.0006 inches (8 to 16 m). The post-plating treatment shall be that of the heat resistance test or the hydrogen embrittlement relief treatmen
