2、 Properties (3.3.1.1, Tables 2 and 3), Fracture Toughness Testing (3.3.5, Table 3), Fatigue Specimen Finishing (3.3.6.2), Acceptance Tests (4.2.1) Sampling and Testing (4.3.2), Reports (4.4.1), and is a Five Year Review and update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an

3、 aluminum alloy in the form of plate. 1.1.1 This specification covers products from 0.250 to 8.000 inches (6 to 203 mm) in thickness, inclusive (See 8.4). 1.2 Application This plate has been used typically for parts requiring a high level of mechanical properties and good resistance to stress-corros

4、ion cracking, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless

5、 a specific document issue is specified. 16、uce a nominal permanent set of 2% but not less than 1% nor more than 3%, and precipitation heat treated to the T7451 temper (See AS1990). Solution and precipitation heat treatment shall be performed in accordance with AMS2772. 3.2.1 Plate shall receive no further straightening operations after stret

17、ching. 3.3 Properties Plate shall conform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with AMS2355 on the mill produced size and as specified herein. 3.3.1 Tensile Properties Shall be as specified in Table 2. 3.3.1.1 Mechanical property requirements for product outside of the range cover

18、ed by Tables 2 and 3 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer. 24、tress-corrosion cracking and to exfoliation-corrosion shall be acceptable if the plate conforms to the requirements of 3.3.2.1 and 3.3.2.2. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4050J Page 5 of 8 3.3.2.1 Electrical Conductivity Shall be not lower than 38.0% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) (22.0 MS/m),

25、determined on the surface of the tensile coupon. 3.3.2.2 Stress-Corrosion Susceptibility Factor (SCF) Shall be not greater than 32.0 (220) IACS, determined by subtracting the electrical conductivity, AA.A% IACS (12 times BB.B MS/m) from the long- transverse yield strength, XX.X ksi (YYY MPa). 27、2.2 may be given additional precipitation heat treatment or reheat treated. After such treatment, if all specified properties are met, the plate is acceptable. 3.3.3 Exfoliation-Corrosion Test Plate shall not exhibit exfoliation-corrosion greater than that illustrated by Photo B, Figure 2, of ASTM G

28、 34. 3.3.4 Stress-Corrosion Test Specimens, cut from plate 0.750 inch (19.05 mm) and over in nominal thickness, shall show no evidence of stress-corrosion cracking when stressed in the short- transverse direction at 35.0 ksi (241 MPa). 3.3.5 Fracture Toughness When specified, plane strain fracture t

29、oughness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E399 and ASTM B645 for plate 1.000 to 8.000 inches (25.40 to 203.20 mm) inclusive in nominal thickness. A valid KIc meeting the requirements of ASTM E399 or a KQ “useable for lot release” in accordance with ASTM B645 shall meet or exceed the values sp

30、ecified in Table 3. 33、plate shall meet the requirements of Table 4. Two fatigue specimens from each end of the parent plate shall be sampled in the long transverse grain direction. These specimens are to be removed from the T/2, W/2 location. Fatigue testing of the specimen shall be conducted in air at 70 F + 5 (21 C + 3

34、) in accordance with ASTM E 466. They are to be tested at an R-ratio of 0.1, at a maximum stress of 35.0 ksi (241 MPa) and shall meet the fatigue requirements shown in Table 4. When agreed upon by the supplier and purchaser, alternate specimen location and test conditions, and fatigue life requireme

35、nts may be used. The specimen shall have a 0.500 inch (12.70 mm) g

36、age diameter, a 2.00-inch (50.80 mm) gage section, and 3.0-inch (76.20 mm) fillet radius. The grip section may be varied to fit different grip configurations, but should have no less than a 1.0-inch (25.4 mm) diameter. 3.3.6.2 Fatigue Specimen Finishing Fatigue samples shall be longitudinally sanded

37、 to produce a fine satin finish of 16 Ra microinch (0.4 micrometer) or better. A medium grit emery paper shall be used to remove transverse machining marks, followed by progressively finer emery papers. Light oil shall be used as a lubricant. The use of an automated polishing system is highly recomm

38、ended. An equivalent procedure can be used provided it can be demonstrated that it gives equivalent results to those obtained using the above method. 3.3.6.2.1 Samples shall be ultrasonically cleaned with a suitable solvent to remove all traces of finishing/ sanding lubricant. 3.4 Quality Plate, as

39、received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the plate. 3.4.1 When specified, each plate 0.500 inch to 8.000 inches (12.70 mm to 203.20 mm) in nominal thickness shall be ultrasonically inspecte

40、d in accordance with ASTM B 594 and shall meet the requirements of 3.4.1.1. 3.4.1.1 Plates shall meet the requirements for ultrasonic class A for plate 0.500 to 8.000 inches (12.70 to 203.20 mm) in nominal thickness. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or H35.2M

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of plate shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any conf

42、irmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the plate conforms to the specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), corrosion resistance (3.3.2), tolerances (3.5), and, when specified, fracture toughness (3.3.5), fatigu

43、e (3.3.6) and ultrasonic soundness (3.4.1) are acceptance tests and except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Exfoliation corrosion resistance (3.3.3) and stress-corrosion resistance (3.3.4) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency select

44、ed by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355 and the following: 4.3.1 Tensile specimens shall be taken with axis of specimens parallel to each applicable grain flow direction specified in Table 2. 4.3.2 When frac

45、ture toughness testing is specified specimens shall be taken from the center width of at least one plate in each lot for each specimen orientation specified by purchaser. 4.3.2.1 For L-T and T-L test orientations for plate 1.000 to 2.000 inches (25.40 to 50.80 mm) inclusive in nominal thickness, use

46、 full-thickness specimens having a width (W) meeting the dimensional requirements of ASTM E 399. 4.3.2.2 For L-T and T-L test orientations for plate over 2.00 to 4.000 inches (50.80 to 101.60 mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness, use specimens having a minimum thickness (B) of 2-inch (51-mm) and a w

47、idth (W) of 4.0 to 5.0 inches (102 to 127mm), centered at T/2. 4.3.2.3 For L-T and T-L test orientations for plate over 4.000 inches to 8.000 inches (101.60 to 203.20 mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness, use specimens having a minimum thickness (B) of 2-inch (51-mm) and a width (W) of 4.0 to 5.0 in

48、ches (102 to 127mm), centered at T/4. 4.3.2.4 For the S-L test orientation, the test specimens shall be centered at T/2. The test specimen dimensions shall meet the requirements of ASTM E 399 and ASTM B645. 4.4 Reports The vendor of plate shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the pl

49、ate conforms to the composition, tolerances and when specified, ultrasonic inspection, and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number(s), AMS4050J, size, and quantity. The report shall also identify the producer, the product form, and the size of the mill pr
