16、INTERNATIONAL AMS5915 Page 3 of 73.2 Melting PracticeAlloy shall be multiple melted using vacuum induction melting followed consumable electrode remelting.3.3 ConditionThe product shall be supplied in the following condition:3.3.1 Bars and ForgingsSolution heat treated and descaled. Round bars shall
17、 be ground or turned.3.3.2 Stock for ForgingAs ordered by the forging manufacturer.3.4 Heat Treatment Bars and forgings shall be solution heat treated by heating to a temperature within the range of 2000 to 2125 F 25 (1093 to 1162 C 14), holding at heat for a time commensurate with cross-sectional t
18、hickness, and cooling at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster. Pyrometry shall be in accordance with AMS2750.3.5 Properties The product shall conform to the following requirements:3.5.1 Bars and Forgings 3.5.1.1 As Solution Heat Treated 3.5.1.1.1 Average Grain SizeShall be ASTM No. 2.5 or fine

Product shall not be rejected on the basis of hardness if the tensile property requirements of 3.5.1.2.1 are acceptable, determined on speci
20、mens taken from the same sample as that with nonconforming hardness, or from another sample with similar nonconforming hardness.3.5.1.2 After Precipitation Heat TreatmentSpecimens from product shall have the following properties after being precipitation heat treated by heating to 1850 F 15 (1010 C
21、8), holding at heat for 2 hours (15 minutes) and cooling at a rate equivalent to cooling in air or faster to ambient temperature, followed by heating to 1450 F 15 (788 C 8), holding at heat for not less than 8 hours (15 minutes), and cooling at a rate equivalent to cooling in air.3.5.1.2.1 Tensile P
22、ropertiesThe following requirements apply to bars 6.00 inches (152 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides, and to forgings 6.00 inches (152 mm) and under in nominal radial thickness. 27、C 2) while a load sufficient to produce an initial axial stress of 13 ksi (89 MPa) or higher is applied continuously, shall not rupture in less than 50 hours. The test shall be continued to rupture without change of load. Elongation after rupture, measured at room temperature, shall not be less than
28、 10% in 4D3.5.2 Forging StockWhen a sample of stock is forged to a test coupon and heat treated as in 3.4 and 3.5.1.2, specimens taken from the heat treated coupon shall conform to the requirements of 3.5.1.2.1, 3.5.1.2.2, and 3.5.1.2.3. If specimens taken from the stock after heat treatment as in 3
29、.4 and 3.5.1.2 conform to the requirements of 3.5.1.2.1, 3.5.1.2.2, and 3.5.1.2.3, the tests shallbe accepted as equivalent to tests of a forged coupon.3.6 QualityThe product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfe
30、ctions detrimental to usage of the product.3.6.1 Grain flow of die forgings, except in areas which contain flash-line end grain, shall follow the general contour of the forgings showing no evidence of reentrant grain flow.3.7 TolerancesBars shall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2261.4.
31、QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary toensu

33、 grain size (3.5.1.1.1) and hardness (3.5.1.1.2) of each lot of bars and forgings as solution heat treated.4.2.1.3 Room-temperature tensile (3.5.1.2.1), hardness (3.5.1.2.2), and stress-rupture (3.5.1.2.3) properties of each lot of bars or forgings after precipitation heat treatment.4.2.1.4 Toleranc
34、es (3.7) of bars. 4.2.1.5 Ability of forging stock (3.5.2) to develop required properties.4.2.2 Periodic TestsThe following requirements are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser:4.2.2.1 Grain flow of die for
35、gings (3.6.1).4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be as follows:4.3.1 Bars, and Stock for ForgingIn accordance with AMS2371, with stress rupture specimens oriented as specified for tensile specimens.4.3.2 ForgingsIn accordance with AMS2374, with stress rupture specimens oriented as specified for tensile
36、specimens.4.4 Reports 4.4.1 The vendor of the bars or forgings shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the vendors name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting operations), the results of tests for composition of each heat
37、, grain size and hardness of each lot as solution heat treated, tensile, hardness and stress rupture properties of each lot after precipitation heat treatment, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. If periodic testing is performed, the results of the periodic tes
38、ting shall be reported. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5915, size and quantity. If forgings are supplied, the size and source of stock used to make the forgings shall also be included.4.4.1.1 When product size is outside the range covered by 1.2, the re
39、port shall contain a statement to that effect.4.4.2 The vendor of stock for forging shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the vendors name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting operations) and the results of tests for
40、chemical composition of each heat and the ability of forging stock to develop required properties. 42、s of exact lengths are ordered, straight bars will be acceptable in mill lengths of 6 to 24 feet (1.8 to 7.3 m). Bars weighing over 25 pounds per foot (37 kg/m), short lengths down to 2 feet (610 mm) may be supplied.5.2 IdentificationShall be as follows:5.2.1 BarsIn accordance with AMS2806.5.2.2 For
