5、 with Power Driven Parts RATIONALE This new document is taking the existing SSCC-58 document “Snowmobile Probe Test for Contact with Power Driven Parts“ and moving it into the SAE format. This will eliminate the last reference to SSCC Test Methods for the Snowmobile Safety Certification Committee. A

6、t the completion of this activity all test methods will be documented under SAE practices. 1. SCOPE This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the test equipment, procedure, and acceptance criteria necessary to determine the location of power driven components that could, upon inadvertent contact by

7、an operator, passenger, or bystander, inflict injury. 2. REFERENCES There are no referenced publications specified herein. 3. DEFINITIONS 3.1 FINGER PROBE: Device used to simulate the human finger. 8、gure 1 4. PROCEDURE 4.1 Tests shall be conducted with all vehicle components in place and properly fastened. 4.2 Tests shall be conducted with the engine not running. Use Caution. 4.3 The finger probe shall be used to detect areas where it is possible to contact power driven parts. The finger probe

9、shall not be inserted beyond the length of the probe - 102 mm (4 in.). 4.4 The area occupied by the operator and/or passenger while in the riding position shall be probed for power driven parts. The finger probe shall be inserted into any opening above the top surface of the tunnel and forward towar

10、d the engine compartment. 4.5 Any area accessible to a bystander while the vehicle is parked shall be probed for parts that would be moving under an engine idle condition. 5. ACCEPTANCE 5.1 The finger probe shall not contact any power driven components of the vehicle which are: 5.1.1 Accessible to t

11、he operator and/or passenger during operation per 4.4. 5.1.2 Accessible to the operator, passenger, and/or bystander when the vehicle is parked per 4.5. 6.
