9、material, and hardness of two types of plain slitting saws ranging in diameter from 80 mm to 315 mm and having either fine or coarse teeth. It does not cover metal slitting saws having cutting edges on the sides of the blade. NOTE a) The titles of standards referred to by number in the specification

10、 are given in appendix A. b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser and a requirement that must be agreed upon are given in appendix B. 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this specification the following definitions, shall apply: acceptable acceptable to the authority administering

11、this standard, or to the parties concluding the purchase contract, as relevant Amdt 1 axial runout the maximum variation in an axial direction of a surface of a saw from the true plane of rotation about the axis of the saw, which occurs when the saw is rotated on its axis through 360 defective a saw

12、 or its container that fails in one or more respects to comply with the appropriate requirements of the specification key a mechanical member for transmitting torque from the driving element to a saw keyway a slot or pocket in a saw intended to provide a driving surface for the key lot not less than

13、 10 and not more than 500 saws of the same type and size, from one manufacturer, submitted at anyone time for inspection and testing pitch the circumferential distance between adjacent teeth measured at the periphery of a saw SANS 1175:2008 Edition 1.1 4 radial runout the maximum variation in a radi

14、al direction of the periphery of a saw when the saw is rotated on its axis through 360 size (of a saw) the nominal diameter and nominal thickness of a saw tooth a projection on a saw that carries a cutting edge 3 Requirements 3.1 Material A slitting saw shall be of high speed steel free from any def

15、ect that may affect its serviceability. 3.2 Type and size A slitting saw shall have fine or coarse teeth, as specified by the purchaser, and the size of the saw shall be one of the sets of values given in columns 1 and 2 of table 4 or table 5 (as relevant), as specified by the purchaser. 3.3 Dimensi

16、ons The dimensions of the saw shall conform to the values given in columns 1-4 of table 4 or table 5(as relevant)appropriate to the size of the saw, and subjected to the following tolerances: a) Diameter. Tolerance grade Js16 of SANS 286-1 or SANS 286-2. Amdt 1 b) Thickness. Tolerance grade Js11 of

17、SANS 286-1 or SANS 286-2. Amdt 1 c) Bore diameter. Tolerance grade H7 of SANS 286-1 or SANS 286-2. Amdt 1 3.4 Number of teeth The number of teeth on a saw shall conform to the value given in column 6 of table 4 or table 5 (as relevant) appropriate to the size of the saw. 3.5 Runout When tested in ac

18、cordance with 6.2, the axial runout and the radial runout of a slitting saw shall not exceed the applicable values given in columns 2 and 3, respectively, of table 1. 20、250 mm, and 315 mm shall be provided with driving holes the diameter and the pitch circle diameter of which, unless otherwise agreed upon between the purchaser and the manufacturer, shall conform to the values given in table 2. Amdt 1 3.8 Tooth shape The tooth shape and the geometry of the cutting edge shall be at the option of the manufacturer. 3.9 Hardness When tested in accordance with 6.3, a saw shall have a hardness, measured within the triangular profile of any

24、tooth, of not less than 62 and not more than 66 HRC. 3.10 Workmanship and finish The workmanship and finish shall be of acceptable quality. For information only. 4 Packing and marking 4.1 Packing To protect a saw in transit, it shall be packed in a cardboard wallet or any other acceptable container that is so designed that the marking on t

34、he saw is visible at all times. SANS 1175:2008 Edition 1.1 11 4.2 Marking Each saw shall be clearly and indelibly marked in an acceptable manner with the following information: a) the manufacturers name or trade name or trade mark; b) diameter of the saw; c) the thickness of the saw; d) the number o

35、f teeth. 5 Sampling and compliance with the specification1)5.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot complies with the relevant requirements of the specification and the samples so taken shall be deemed to represent the lot: a) Sample for inspection.

36、 From the lot take at random the number of saws shown in column 2 of table 6 relative to the appropriate lot size shown in column 1. 37、aken in accordance with (a) above take at random the appropriate number of saws shown in column 3 of table 6. 5.2 Compliance with the specification The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of the specification if after inspection and testing of the samples taken in accordance with 5.1

38、 no defective is found. 6 Inspection and methods of test 6.1 Inspection Inspect and measure each saw in the sample taken in accordance with 5.1(a) for compliance with those requirements of the specification compliance with which is not assessed by the tests given in 6.2 and 6.3. 1) This section appl

39、ies to the sampling for inspection and testing before acceptance or rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. It is also used as the procedu

40、re for adjudicating in cases of dispute. SANS 1175:2008 Edition 1.1 12 6.2 Runout test 6.2.1 Apparatus a) Bench centres and a suitable stand to accept a dial gauge that is capable of measuring to an accuracy of 0,01 mm. b) An arbor having a seating of the appropriate diameter (corresponding to the b

41、ore of the saw under test) and an integral and perpendicular shoulder of a suitable diameter, the mounting surfaces (i.e. faces of shoulder and seating) being true to within 10 m with respect to the centres of the arbor. 6.2.2 Method Rigidly mount on the arbor (in turn) each saw in the sample taken

42、in accordance with 5.1(b). Set up the dial gauge in the positions shown in figure 1, rotate the assembly slowly between centres, and check for compliance with the requirements of 3.5. 6.3 Hardness test Using the relevant procedure described in SANS 6506-1 or SANS 6507-1 and a calibrated Rockwell har

43、dness testing machine, check each saw in the sample taken in accordance with 5.1(b) for compliance with the requirements of 3.9.
