NOTE Synthetic-

25、 to its mass per unit area (in kilograms per square metre), i.e. the efficiency, based on mass, of the duvet as a thermal insulator 4 Requirements for duvets 4.1 General Duvets shall be a) cut and made with first-class workmanship throughout, b) free from defects that could affect their appearance o
26、r their serviceability (or both), c) made such that all seams are smooth and all sewing is free from twists, pleats and puckers and sufficiently extensible to prevent seam-cracking and undue shrinkage in use, d) made such that all ends of sewing have been trimmed and loose threads removed, e) made s
27、uch that ends of sewing that are not secured in seams or in other sewing are adequately backstitched, f) of uniform and acceptable make, colour and finish, g) capable of being cleaned in accordance with the care instructions, without giving rise to any defect, such as puckering, lumpiness, tears, et
28、c., and h) delivered in a clean and commercially dry condition. 4.2 Materials and components 4.2.1 Casing fabric The casing fabric shall be a woven fabric that complies with the appropriate requirements given in table 1. Its colour shall be such as to be acceptable and shall be as required (see anne
29、x A). 4.2.2 Plumage fillings A plumage filling shall comply with the relevant requirements of SANS 761, and the composition of the filling shall be as required (see annex A). 4.2.3 Sewing thread Any appropriate type of sewing thread specified in SANS 1362 may be used, provided that the minimum break
30、ing strength of the thread is at least 8 N. The colour of the sewing thread shall be such as to be acceptable. 36、 Finished dimensions Unless otherwise agreed upon (see annex A), the nominal dimensions of a duvet shall be one of the combinations given in columns 2 and 3 of table 2, as required (see annex A). The actual dimensions of a duvet, determined in accordance with 6.3, shall be equivalent to the stated d
37、imensions, subject to the relevant tolerance given in the Trade Metrology Regulations. 38、 inner-wall type duvet shall consist of a base and a top-of-the-casing fabric that are connected at intervals by longitudinal vertical walls or boxes or squares with transverse walls, and that are secured together at the ends and side edges of the duvet by seaming, binding, or overlocking. The filli
39、ng shall be introduced by means of filling channels before the closing of the second end. 4.5.2 Button-stitched type A button-stitched type duvet shall consist of a base and a top-of-the-casing fabric that are secured together at the ends and side edges of the duvet by seaming, binding or overlockin
40、g, and button- stitched at intervals through the base and the top before or after the filling is introduced. 4.5.3 Stitched-through type A stitched-through type duvet shall consist of a base and a top-of-the-casing fabric that, before or after introduction of the filling, is stitched through in tran
41、sverse or longitudinal lines of stitching. The ends and side edges shall be secured together by seaming, binding or overlocking. 4.6 Stitches and seams 4.6.1 General All sewing shall be in accordance with SANS 10101. 4.6.2 Stitches Stitches in duvets shall comply with the following requirements: a)

43、per 10 cm: at least 48 per 10 cm. 4.6.3 Seams Seams in duvets shall comply with the following requirements: a) general: edge-overlocked closing seams of seam type SSn-1 shall be of width at least 4 mm. All other seams shall be of width at least 8 mm; and b) seam type: seam types shall be as follows:
44、 1) closing seams: seam type SSc-1, BSc-1, SSa-1, SSav-2 or SSn-1; and 2) wall seams: seam type SSc-1. 4.7 Drape The mean widthwise drape and the mean lengthwise drape of a duvet, determined in accordance with 6.5, shall not, in either case, exceed 32 cm. 4.8 Thermal insulance The nominal thermal in
45、sulance of a duvet, determined and labelled as its tog value, shall be 4,5 togs, 6,0 togs, 7,5 togs, 9,0 togs, 10,5 togs, 12,0 togs or 13,5 togs, as required (see annex A). The actual tog value of a duvet, determined in accordance with 6.6, shall be not less than the value stated on the label (see 7
46、.2.1(e) and shall not exceed it by more than 3 togs. 4.9 Warmth-to-mass ratio When determined in accordance with 6.7, the warmth-to-mass ratio of a duvet shall be at least 100. 5 Requirements for pillows 5.1 General Pillows shall be a) cut and made with first-class workmanship throughout, b) free fr
47、om defects that could affect their appearance or their serviceability (or both), c) made such that all seams are smooth and all sewing is free from twists, pleats and puckers, and sufficiently extensible to prevent seam-cracking and undue shrinkage in use, d) made such that all ends of sewing have b

49、he SABS.SANS 1394-1:2009 Edition 2.3 9 g) capable of being cleaned in accordance with the care instructions, without giving rise to any defect, such as puckering, lumpiness, tears, etc., and h) delivered in a clean and commercially dry condition. 5.2 Materials and components The casing fabric, plumage filling and sewing thread used in the manufacture of pillows shall comply with the requirements given in 4.2.1, 4.2.2 and 4.2.3 respectively. 5.3 Finished dimensions Unless otherwise agreed upon (see annex A), the nominal dimensions of the made-up pillow
