6、 981:1993 (first revision). SANS 5981:2008 Edition 3 1 Wax polishes Non-volatile matter content and the ash content of non-volatile matter 1 Scope This standard specifies a method for the determination of the non-volatile matter content and the ash content of the non-volatile matter of wax polishes.
7、 2 Apparatus 2.1 Silica or porcelain evaporating dish. 2.2 Oven, maintained at 110 C 10 C. 2.3 Furnace, maintained at 900 C 10 C. 2.4 Dessicator. 2.5 Water-bath. 2.6 Scale or weighing balance. 3 Procedure 3.1 Heat the evaporating dish in the furnace (2.3) for 15 min. NOTE If only non-volatile matter
8、 is required, heating to 110 C in the oven will be sufficient. 3.2 Cool the desiccator and weigh it to the nearest 10 mg (m1). 3.3 Weigh (see 2.6), to an accuracy of 10 mg, approximately 4 g of the polish into the evaporating dish. Record the mass of the dish and the polish (m2). 3.4 Heat the evapor

SANS 5981:2008 Edition 3 2 3.6 Remove the dish, cool it in the desiccator (see 2.4) and then weigh it. 3.7 Reheat the dish in the oven for
