This FOTP is part of the series of test procedures included within Recommended Standard EI

24、MIA- 455. I Introduction 1.1 Intent The intent of this procedure is to determine the inside diameter of the ferrule hole in an optical fiber connector ferrule. 1.2 Accuracy and precision The precision of the method is affected by the incremental differences in the outer diameters of the calibrated w

25、ire set used for the measurement. The accuracy of the method is controlled by the calibration of the calibrated wire set. 1.3 Applications This procedure is applicable to all optical fiber connectors. 2 Applicable documents Test or inspection requirements may include, but are not limited to, the fol

28、r (optional) Use a wire holder to hold the calibrated wires during the measurement. 3.3 Calibrated wire set Use a calibrated wire set with outside diameters that encompass the ferrule inside diameter specified in the Detail Specification that meets the following requirements: a. b. C. Unless otherwi

29、se specified, use wires that have known outside diameters (traceable to NIST) with a tolerance of -0.0, W.25 pm. Unless otherwise specified, use a wire set with maximum differences in the diameters of consecutive wires of 2 percent of the wire diameter. For single-mode ferrules, use a wire set that

30、includes at least one wire with an outside diameter equal to the ferrule inside diameter specified in the Detail Specification. For multimode ferrules, use a wire set that includes wires having outer diameters equal to the maximum and minimum sizes specxfied in the Detail Specification. If a wire in

31、 the set is used for more than one test specimen, periodically verify the outer diameter calibration of the wire. d. e. 4 Sampling and specimens Unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specification, use an optical fiber connector ferrule for the test specimen. The specimen may be part of an optica

Insert the wire into the ferrule until it extends completely through the ferrule from one end to the other. 5.4 Remove the wire and repeat the procedure for the rest of the remaining wires (it is recommended that the s
