The subscriber is required to enter a SPINI Personal Identification N

、umber (PIN) authorization code (i.e., a subscriber-specific string of digits) in order to originate calls meeting a specified criterion (e.g., local call type). If the correct SPINI PIN authorization code (or, simply, PIN) is entered, call originations are allowed. If an invalid SPINI PIN is entered

、, call originations shall be given denial treatment (e.g., an announcement indicating the reason for denial). Calls so denied may, optionally, be logged. This feature provides a level of security against cloning and fraud by requiring the subscriber to identify itself by entering a SPINI PIN for cer

、tain call originations. The service provider selects the call types requiring a SPINI PIN. That is, for each subscriber, the SPINI PIN may be required on certain classes of calls (e.g., local, international, long distance, feature registration attempts, or directory assistance with call completion,

、etc.). SPINI PIN shall not be required on unrestricted call types (e.g., emergency). SPINI PIN may not be required for a list of frequently called numbers, regardless of their call type. The subscriber may be authorized to change the SPINI PIN at any time. The service provider has the ability to reg

、ister or deauthorize the SPINI PIN for any subscriber at any time. The feature does not affect a subscribers ability to receive calls. Applicability to Telecommunications Services SPINI is applicable to voice telecommunication services. 1.1 Normal Procedures with Successful Outcome Authorization SPI

、. Invocation SPINI is invoked when a subscriber with SPINI active originates a call or attempts to register a feature that requires the entry of a SPINI PIN. Normal Operation with Successful Outcome Subscriber Call Origination When a SPINI subscriber originates a call and the call type requires the

、use of a PIN, the subscriber is prompted to enter the SPINI PIN, as in: termination address + SEND prompt to enter SPINI PIN PIN + SEND . If the correct SPINI PIN is entered, the call shall be allowed to proceed. If an invalid SPINI PIN is entered, the system may resolicit the SPINI PIN or give the

Subscriber Feature Registration When a SPINI subscriber attempts to register a feature with a forward-to or diversion termination address that requires the use of a PIN, the subscriber is prompted to enter the SPINI PIN, as in: *FC + termination address + SEND prompt to enter

、SPINI PIN PIN + SEND . If the correct SPINI PIN is entered, the feature registration shall be allowed to proceed. If an invalid SPINI PIN is entered, the system may resolicit the SPINI PIN or apply feature denial treatment. Call Detail Record The system should record call detail information for the

、following: a. SPINI registration activities and events. b. SPINI deregistration activities and events. c. Any call leg that results in the invocation of SPINI. d. Call attempts refused by SPINI.
