29、R EQ U I R EM E NTS AND CAL I B RAT1 ON 1 Scope and object This standard applies to portable radiation meters using y-scintillation detectors, solid- state detectors, etc. It includes instruments with total count readings only, and spectro- meters. These instruments are predominantly used in prospec
30、tion, but they may also be applied to surface radioactive fall-out detection and identification. This standard, however, applies only to instruments used in prospection. Usually, these instruments comprise the following parts: - the detector itself, which is a scintillation detector or a solid-state
31、 detector; - the display, which might be an analogue reading or, preferentially, one or more digital displays; - a signal processing unit, which can be used for amplification and processing of detector signals; - a power supply for stabilized high voltage and operating voltage; - an audio alarm unit
32、 which can work in the continuous mode or emit an alarm signal above a certain threshold value. These instruments may have an output to connect additional units, such as those for data storage and processing. The object of this standard is to: - establish definitions; - state requirements for instru
