Scope*1.1 This specification covers coextruded acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic drain, waste, and vent pipemade to Schedule 40 iron pipe sizes

4、 (IPS) and produced by thecoextrusion process with concentric inner and outer solid ABSlayers and the core consisting of closed-cell cellular ABS.Plastic which does not meet the material requirements specifiedin Section 5 is excluded from single layer and all coextrudedlayers.1.2 Fittings suitable f

5、or use with pipe meeting the require-ments of this specification are given in Annex A1. Fittingsmeeting the requirement of Specification D2661 are alsoacceptable.1.3 Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic which does notmeet the definitions of virgin ABS plastic as given in 3.2.4 isexcluded, as perf

6、ormance of plastic other than those defined asvirgin was not determined. ABS rework plastic which meetsthe requirements of rework plastic as given in 5.3 is acceptable.1.4 Reprocessed plastic or recycled plastic as defined inTerminology D883 is excluded.1.5 Recommendations for storage, joining, and

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 Definitions are in accordance with Terminology F412,and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminology D1600,unless otherwise specified. The abbrev

20、iation for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic is ABS.3.1.2 cellular plastica plastic containing numerous cells,intentionally introduced, interconnecting or not, distributedthroughout the mass.3.1.3 closed-cell cellular plasticcellular plastic in whichalmost all the cells are noninterconnecting.

21、3.1.4 coextruded pipepipe consisting of two or moreconcentric layers of material bonded together in processing byany combination of temperature, pressure, grafting,crosslinking, or adhesion.3.1.5 coextrusiona process whereby two or more heatedor unheated plastic material streams forced through one o

22、rmore shaping orifice(s) become one continuously formedpiece.3.1.6 room temperaturea temperature in the range from 68to 85 6 3.6F (20 to 30 6 2C).3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 lota lot shall consist of all pipe produced, of onesize, from one extrusion line, during one desi

23、gnated 24-hperiod.3.2.2 recycled plastica plastic prepared from discardedarticles that have been cleaned and reground.3.2.3 reprocessed plastica thermoplastic prepared fromusually melt processed scrap or reject parts by a plasticsprocessor, or from nonstandard or nonuniform virgin material.3.2.4 vir

24、gin ABS plasticplastic in the form of pellets,granules, powder, floc, or liquid that has not been subjected touse or processing other than that required for its initialmanufacture.4. Classification4.1 Pipe produced in accordance with this specification isintended to provide pipe suitable for the dra

25、inage and ventingof sewage and certain other non-hazardous liquid wastes.NOTE 1Before installing pipe for waste disposal use, the approval ofthe cognizant building code authority should be obtained as conditions notcommonly found in normal use may be encountered and temperatures inexcess of 180F (82

26、C) may be encountered.NOTE 2This specification does not include requirements for pipeintended to be used to vent combustion gases.5. Materials5.1 Material SpecificationVirgin ABS plastic shall con-form to the requirements prescribed in Specification D3965with a cell classification of 4-2-2-2-2. The

27、color and form ofthe material shall be as agreed upon between the seller and thepurchaser in accordance with Specification D3965.5.2 The ABS plastic shall conform to the following require-ments:5.2.1 Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) PlasticPlastic shall contain a minimum of 15 % acrylonitrile,

28、6 %butadiene, and 15 % styrene or substituted styrene, or both, ofpolymers or blends of polymers.5.2.2 ABS plastic shall contain no more than 10 % of othermonomeric or polymeric components plus other necessarycompounding ingredients.5.3 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean rew

29、ork pipe material conforming with these cellclass requirements. Use it only in the core layer. The pipeproduced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 GeneralThe pipe and fittings should be homogeneousthroughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions,

30、or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be as uniform ascommercially practicable in color, opacity, density, and otherphysical properties.6.1.1 The requirements in this section are intended only foruse as quality control tests, not as simulated service tests.6.2 Dimension and Tolerance:6.2.1 Outs

31、ide DiameterThe outside diameter and toler-ances shall meet the requirements of Table 1 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D2122. The tolerances forout-of-roundness shall apply to pipe prior to shipment.6.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness and tolerancesshall meet the requirements of Tabl

32、e 2 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D2122.6.2.3 LengthThe pipe shall be in either 10 or 20-ft (3.05 or6.1-m) lengths, unless otherwise specified. The allowabletolerance on length shall be +12, 0 in. (+12, 0 mm).6.3 Performance Requirements:6.3.1 Pipe StiffnessThe minimum pipe stiffness v

33、alues at5 % deflection when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2412, shall equal or exceed the values in Table 3. The rate ofcrosshead motion shall be 0.20 to 0.25 in./min (5.1 to 6.3mm/min). Three specimens shall be tested. If all three meet thisrequirement, the sample meets this requirement.

35、ement.6.3.1.1 Pipe Stiffness and Lower Confidence LimitIn theevent that one or two of the specimens tested in 6.3.1 fail tomeet the minimum requirement, the average pipe stiffness ofeleven specimens shall meet or exceed the minimum require-ment given in Table 3. The 99 % lower confidence limit (LCL)

36、shall be within 15 % of the average value. The LCL shall becalculated using the Students “t” distribution, with N-1 de-grees of freedom, where N is the number of specimens. Thecritical t value shall be used to at least three significant digits.Alternatively, if the LCL exceeds the minimum pipe stiff

37、nessrequirement in Table 3, but is not within 15 % of the average,the sample meets the requirements of the Pipe Stiffness testing.The eleven specimens include the three tested under 6.3.1, andan additional eight with rotation by 35, as specified in TestMethod D2412, continuing throughout the remaini

39、ntrol testing, a single specimen may be usedwith the thinnest wall at the top.NOTE 4The 5 % deflection criterion, which was arbitrarily selectedfor testing convenience, should not be considered as a limitation withrespect to in-use deflection. The engineer is responsible for establishingthe acceptab

40、le deflection limit.NOTE 5The strength and load-carrying capabilities of plastic pipe aremeasured and reported as pipe stiffness, which is determined in accor-dance with Test Method D2412. The term “crush strength” is notapplicable to plastic piping because the values obtained can be signifi-cantly

41、different, depending on the bedding, loading, or testing techniqueused, and the term derives from rigid pipe and refers to its ultimatestrength at rupture.6.3.2 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of rup-ture when pipe is deflected 25 % of the initial inside diameterwhen tested in accordance w

42、ith Test Method D2412. Threespecimens shall be tested; all shall meet the requirements.Failure shall be a crack or break extending entirely through thepipe wall visible to the unaided eye.6.3.3 Impact StrengthThe minimum impact resistance,when tested at the time of manufacture, shall comply withTabl

43、e 4. Test in accordance with Test Method D2444 using TupA and Holder B. Use 12lb (5 kg) tup for testing pipe sizes 4in. and smaller and a 20lb (10kg) tup for sizes larger than 4in.6.3.3.1 Test 10 specimens. When 9 or 10 specimens pass,accept the lot. When 2 or more specimens fail, test 10additional

44、specimens. When 17 of 20 specimens tested pass,accept the lot. When 4 or more of 20 specimens fail, test 20additional specimens. When 32 of 40 specimens pass, acceptthe lot. When 9 or more of 40 specimens fail, the lot does notmeet the requirements of this specification.6.3.3.2 Failure of the test s
