Only people who earn a lot of money are successful. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. (分数:20.00)_正确答案:()解析:参考范文 Only People Who

6、Earn a Lot of Money Are Successful?Earning a lot of money is not the only way to be successful. Success is a very vague word, roughly meaning something like satisfaction. People can be satisfied without money. It all depends on how the definition of success is articulated. If you check the dictionar

7、y you will find that success can be defined as achieving your goals. So if your goal is to make a lot of money, then you are successful when you achieve it. If your goal is to lead a healthy life, then as long as you are not afflicted by any disease, you are successful. However, most of the time, be

8、ing successful is not that simple. Sometimes, you need to be acknowledged and accepted not only by yourself but also by the people around you in order to be considered successful. A husband who runs a very lucrative business and makes a lot of money to support his family may not be a successful fath

9、er in the eyes of his wife and children if he has little time to accompany them. He may disappoint his child by missing his baseball games, his birthdays, and other special events, forcing him to grow up without the companionship of his father. On the other hand, many successful people are not wealt

10、hy at all. John Nash, an American mathematician who studied game theory, differential geometry, and partial differential equations shared the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with game theorists Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi. Money is not what Professor Nash was pursuing. Like most

11、 mathematicians, Nash wanted knowledge and the recognition of that knowledge by his peers. The Nobel Prize therefore says more about Professor Nash“s success than money ever could. So money and success are not necessarily correlated. A rich man may think he is successful, while those around him thin

12、k he is a failure. Someone who is not rich may be considered a great success by his peers all around the world. Success depends on every individual“s personal definition of it.2.Directions: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A person“s childhood years (the time from birth to twel

(分数:20.00)_正确答案:()解析:参考范文 A Person“s Childhood Years Are the MostImportant Years of a Person“s LifeMost people would agree that a person“s childhood years are very important. I

14、“ve heard the experts call it the “formative years“. However, are they the most important years? If you ask a college student, he might say that the two years he spent preparing for the college entrance exam were the most important years. A professional, like a doctor, might say that it was his resi

15、dency years after medical school. Nevertheless, if I really ponder over the issue, I would have to say that a person“s childhood years are the most important. First of all, we are a product of our environment. It is during the first 12 years of our life that we are most naive and highly susceptible

16、to impressions and influences in our surroundings, good and bad alike. First, influences are strongest and they stay with us throughout our adult life. For example, there have been numerous studies of orphaned twins who spent their childhoods in separate and very different family environments. Their

17、 childhood experiences turned them into very different adults. There are also many studies of children who were physically or sexually abused at a young age and who, in spite of positive influences during their adult life, turned into child abusers themselves. Many adult criminals can trace the sour

It is during these crucial 12 years that we are able to learn and absorb the most information. We learn

19、to speak our primary language during this time and we“re better able to learn a foreign language as well. For example, some foreign language experts say that after age 12, a child“s system of pronunciation becomes rather fixed and it is more difficult for a child to acquire the correct pronunciation

20、s of a foreign language. Physically, we develop most of our coordination and flexibility skills before the age of 12. By age 12.5, most girls are physically able to bear children. Ages 112 are indeed the most important years in a person“s life. It might not seem obvious but everything you are as an

Like some people say, “Old habits are hard to break.“3.Directions: Some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these t

(分数:20.00)_正确答案:()解析:参考范文 Should High Schools Require Students to Wear School Uniformsor Permit Them to Decide What to Wear to School? Many high schools, both public and private, require students to

23、wear uniforms. I think that such a policy is an excellent idea because uniforms can make things more equal for all students. First, uniforms make students equal on an economic level. With uniforms, students from poor families dress the same as students from rich families. This can prevent envy and j

24、ealousy about stylish clothes. It can also encourage students to form friendships based on personality, not clothes. Second, uniforms can reduce unequal treatment by teachers. Research suggests that teachers often have higher expectations for more attractive students, which include those students wi

Finally, uniforms encourage the individual students of a school to feel like part of a bigger group. Their feel

26、ings of being together, working together and having something in common are all helped by uniforms. It is my opinion that all schools should have a policy requiring uniforms. Uniforms give every student an equal chance.4.Directions: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? High schools

(分数:20.00)_正确答案:()解析:参考范文 Should High Schools Allow Students to Study theCourses that Students Want to Study? Many high school students would prefer to design their own

However, this proposition is actually not feasible, for the simple reason that students in high school don“t have a high enough level of self-control and they are incapable of making wise academic d

29、ecisions on their own. Assuming that high schools do allow students to choose whichever courses they want to study, many students would choose those courses that don“t have tests as final evaluation, since exams are inherently annoying and are regarded as an affliction by many students. Nobody likes

30、 tests. Courses like music and art will become popular courses among students, while math, English, and physics will have few takers. Therefore, the downside of this policy is that it doesn“t take into account the nature of high school students who are at an age where they have a relatively lower le

31、vel of self-control. What they like is not studying but having fun. Besides, even if students can discipline themselves and choose some difficult courses to take in order to prepare for college, they are simply not capable of making an informed decision. Academic subjects are interdependent and have

32、 a high level of correlation. For example, a good command of math is a prerequisite to learn physics and chemistry. The correlation between different subjects is still unfamiliar to most students in high school, so they will still need help from the faculty to help them decide which subjects are nec

Therefore, based on the preceding discussions, we can see clearly that it is infeasible for high schools to grant students the freedom to choose which courses they want to study. Maybe a feasible solution is to define a list of compulsory courses while sti

35、.00)_正确答案:()解析:参考范文 The Most Important Room in the HouseEvery room in the house has its function and it is difficult to imagine life without one of them. However, there is one room that I believe is truly indispensable because it is the center of the life of the household. That room is the kitchen.

36、The kitchen is always a warm room where the family like to gather. There always seems to be some kind of activity going oncooking, eating, talking and even studying. It is an informal room and everyone feels comfortable in the kitchen. My family and I always eat our meals at the kitchen table unless

37、 we have company. So, the kitchen represents family time. Most of the family conversations seem to take place in the kitchen, too. And, of course, there is always something good to eat in the kitchen. It is the food center of the house and food is indispensable to the family. For these reasons, the most important room in the house, and my personal favorite, is the kitchen. It represents the center of the family and is, therefore, the center of the house.
