、Designation: D6005 03 (Reapproved 2017)Standard Test Method forDetermining Slump Resistance of Carpet Adhesives1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D6005; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of

、last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method describes a procedure to measureslump, or sag, resistance of a trowel-grade carpet adhesiveusing a bu

、gy D907.4. Significance and Use4.1 During application, end users typically remove theadhesive from the container using the trowel and spread it ontothe desired substrate. Adhesives with good rheologicalcharacteristics, therefore, will allow trowel retention. Adhe-sives with poor rheological characte

、ristics tend to be unaccept-able because they cannot be picked up by a trowel.4.2 Bead configuration is important in order to provideproper wetting/contact of the carpet backing. Beads drawn witha trowel, which show a nonslumping ridge, are preferredbecause they allow good contact to both substrates

、.4.3 Measurement of the slump resistance of the adhesivewill allow an end user to know if an adhesive is capable of bothadhering well to the trowel during application and maintain anonflowing adhesive ridge.5.
