24、 are not to be construed as a part of AGMA Standard6133-C08, Materials for Marine Propulsion Gearing (Metric Edition).The purpose of ANSI/AGMA 6133-C08 is to provide alloy steel specifications and qualityassurance measures for pinions and gears used in main propulsion marine applications.This docume

25、nt consolidates and adapts the material specifications generally used forpinions and gears in the defined marine propulsion applications.ANSI/AGMA 6033-A88 was proposed to the Technical Division Executive Committee in1979 by the Chairman of the Marine Gearing Committee. Interest in, and the need for

26、 thisstandard was expressed at a committee meeting in February 1980. Work began on rolledring forgings for rims of large fabricated gears. Metallurgists from several membercompaniesattendedthatandsubsequentmeetings. Thecommitteecontinuedworkonthestandard,expandingthecontentstoincludeotherformsofgear

27、ing,propertiesofcommonlyavailable alloy steels, heat treatment methods and inspection requirements.The Marine GearingCommittee submittedthe standard,and itwas approvedby theentireAGMA membership in its final edited version in March 1988. On May 31, 1988 it wasapproved as an American National Standar

28、d.In late 1993 the AGMA Technical Division Executive Committee recommended that theMarine Gearing Committee review and update ANSI/AGMA 6033-A88, Standard forMarine Propulsion Gear Units, Part 1, Materials. This review and update was initiated inearly1994. ANSI/AGMA6033-B98wasrenamedMaterialsforMari

29、nePropulsionGearing.ANSI/AGMA6033-B98wasapprovedbythemembershipinJuly,1997andapprovedasanAmerican National Standard on June 19, 1998.ANSI/AGMA 6133-C08 is a revision of ANSI/AGMA 6133-B98 to reflect metallurgy andmaterials practices currently in use in marine applications, and to refer to other rece

30、ntAGMA publications.AGMAStandardsaresubjecttoconstantimprovement,revision,orwithdrawalasdictatedby experience. Each certificate oftest shall report sufficient data to clearly id

47、entify thecomponents, associated control test coupons, pro-cess and other pertinent data necessary to providequality traceability.4.2 Mechanical test methodsTest methods for tension, impact and hardnesstesting shall be in accordance with ASTM A370.The number, location and orientation of testspecimen

48、s shall be according to figure 1 and ASTMA290 or ASTM A291 as appropriate. Test bars forforged rings shall be in the tangential direction atmid-walloftheprolongationonthe ring,as closeaspractical to the end face of the rough machinedforging. Testbarsforforgedringsarethusactuallyinthelongitudinaldire

49、ctionwithrespecttothedirectionofmetalworkingorflowduringforgingorrolling.
