The gage furnished under this specification shall be a product which has been tested, and passed the qualification tests specified herein, and has been listed on or approved f
10、or listing on the applicable Qualified Products Lis t. 3.2 Selection of Government documents. Specifications and Standards for necessary cammodities and services not Specified herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143 except as provided in 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. 3.2.1 Ccamnercia parts. Materials for which there are no applicable specifications, or which are not specifically described herein, shall be of the best quality, of the ligh
14、test practicable weight, and suitable for the purpose intended. 3.3.1 Critical materials. Noncritical materials shall be used where practi- cable. tion requirements, the material used shall be the least critical of those which are adequate for the purpose. Where the use of a critical material is ess
15、ential to meet specifica- 3.3.2 Metals. Metals shall be of the corrosion-resistant type, or shall be suitably protected as specified herein to resist corrosion due to salt spray or atmospheric conditions to which the gage may be subjected when in storage or during noml service life. 3.3.2.1 Dissimil
16、ar metals. Unless suitably protected against electrolytic corrosion, dissimilar metals as defined in E33586 shall not be used in intimate contact with each other. 3.3.3 Nonmagnetic materials. Nonmagnetic materials shall be used for all parts of the gage except where magnetic materials are essential.

Materials which are nutrients for fungi shall not be used where it is practicable to avo-id them. Where used and not herme- tically sealed, they shall be treated with a fungicidal agent accept
18、able to the procuring activity. However, if they will be used in a hermetically sealed enclosure, fungicidal treatment will not be necessary. 3.3.5 Corrosive fumes. service conditions specified herein shall not liberate deleterious fumes. Protective coatings and finishes which will crack, chip or scale during normal service life or due to extremes of atmospheric conditions shall not be uced. 3.9
33、.2.1 Aluminum alloy parts. Where practicable, aluminum alloy parts shall be covered with an anodic film conforming to m-8625. do not anodize satisfactorily shall be coated with a chemical film in accord- ance with MIL-C-5541. At least 1/16 inch of the shortest graduations, and other specified markings on the dial shall be visible from any point withir; the fmtrum of a cone whose sid.e makes an angle of 30 degrees with a perpen- d
39、icular to the dial and whose small diameter is the aperture of the instrument case. 3.11 Identification of the product. to the gage cEse, and. shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-l3O. A nameplate shall be securely attached 3.12 Workmanship. The gage, including all parts and accessories, shall
40、 be constructed and finished to produce an instrument free from all defects which would affect proper functioning in service. 3.13 Bearing, synthetic. When synthetic besrings are used they shall conform to MIL-B-27497. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection. Unless otherwi
41、se specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. any of the inspect
42、ions set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The Government reserves the right to perform 4.2 Classification of tests. be classified as follows : The inspection and testing of the gage shall a. Qua
43、lification tests. Qualification tests are tnose tests performed on gages submitted for qualification as a satisfactory product. b. Acceptance tests. Acceptance tests are those tests performed on gages manufactured and submitted for acceptance under contract. 4.3 Qualification tests. The qualificatio
44、n tests of the gage shall consist of all tests of this specification specified under paragraph 4.7 headed Test methods, conducted in the order listed therein. 4.3.1 Qualification test samples. The qualification test samples shall consist of three gages of each manufacturers part number submitted for
