2、and is available for use by all departments and agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE. 1.1 ScoDe. This specification covers the preparation and specific style and format requirements for technical manuals, checklists, and source data packages to be used for aircraft and multiple type weapo

3、n delivery. In addition to paper delivery, this specification also provides for digital delivery of data by using document type definitions (DTD). These DTDs are contained in appendixes A through J. 1.1.1 Nonnuclear weaDon deliverv manuals and checklists. This document prescribes specific style and

4、format requirements for preparation of manuals and Checklists that will provide aircrews with those procedures required for planning and executing of a nonnuclear weapon delivery mission involving bombs, rockets, guns, missiles, spray tanks, dispenser munitions, and training or special purpose devic

5、es related to weapon delivery. 1.1.2 Nuclear wearon deliverv manuals and checklists. This document also covers the preparation requirements for manuals and checklists used in the delivery of nuclear bombs from strategic bomber aircraft and tactical aircraft, and air-to-surface missiles from strategi

6、c bomber aircraft. 8、l. The level of detail contained in this performance specification is necessary to comply with the requirements of the Joint Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (JCALS) system. 2. APPLICABLE DOCULMENTS. 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 and 4

9、of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness of this list, document users are cautioned that they must meet all specif

10、ied requirements documents cited in sections 3 and 4 of this specification, whether or not they are listed. 2.2 Government documents. 2.2.1 SPecifications. standards. and handbooks. The following specifications, standards, and handbooks form a part of this document to the extent specified herein. Un

14、 2.3 Order of Precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 2 Provided

The general manner of preparation for manuals, checklists, and source data packages shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-38

16、784, MIL-PRF-5096, MILPRF-7700, and MIL-STD-1840. 3.1.1 Format. Format shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-38784. 3.1.2 Illustrations. Illustrations shall be prepared in accordance with MILSTD-38784. If required, illustrations shall be used more than once. Reference in the text t

17、o illustrations need not state specifically the purpose of the illustration unless required by the acquiring activity. Foldout pages shall not be used. Line drawings shall be used in lieu of photographs (halftones). 3.1.2.1 Illustration fipure titles. If required, illustration figure titles shall be

18、 placed within illustrations and the figure number. Classified markings, if applicable, shall be placed below the illustration. Figure numbers and titles shall not be used in the aircrew procedures. If an illustration is required for a specific step in the procedures, the step number shall be placed

19、 below the lower leR corner of the illustration. 3.1.3 Nomenclature. Nomenclature shall be standardized throughout the manual and, if required by the acquiring activity, shortened or abbreviated to its common name or mnemonic (see 6.2). When referring to aircraft components or functions, only flight

20、 manual nomenclature shall be used. 3.1.4 Abbreviations. Only nonstandard abbreviations shall be explained in the foreword to the manual. 3.1.5 References. In general, references shall be in accordance with the requirements of MILSTD- 38784. Reference to other publications shall be by publication nu

21、mber without reference to specific page, paragraph, or sentence. If the information needed from a reference is less than one printed page, it shall be extracted, modified if necessary, and included in the manual. References shall not be made that require further reference to a third publication. 3.1

22、.6 Flaeng. Flagging shall be used in the manuals and checklists to denote items applicable to specific aircraft models, daily checks, crewmembers, etc. Any flagging used shall be explained in the foreword. Flagging shall normally be a parenthesized entry; e.g., (P), (RO), etc. 3.1.7 ParamaRhS. Parag

23、raphs in the nuclear weapon delivery manual shall not be numbered and headings shall be as specified in MIL-PRF-7700. 3.1.8 Foreword. “he foreword shall be prepared in accordance with the requirements of MILSTD- 38784. If required by the acquiring activity, a list of applicable reference documents s

24、hall be included (see 6.2). This list shall be held to a minimum, showing essential documents only and shall be included in volume one of a multivolume series. A statement concerning change requests, comments, submission of improvement reports, nuclear safety certification, and technical responsibil

25、ity for the manual shall also be included. 3.1.9 Numbering of figures and tables. Figure and table numbering shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-38784, except for aircrew procedures where figure and table numbers 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permit

26、ted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-PRF-38384D (USAF) shall only be used to emphasize a specific procedural step. 3.1.10 List of tables. illustrations. and time comuliance technical orders (TCTOs). Lists of tables, illustrations, and TCTOs shall be prepared in accordance with the requirements of MI

27、LSTD-38784. Nuclear weapon delivery manuals shall not contain a list of tables, illustrations, or TCTOs. 3.1.11 Table of contents. Each volume shall contain a table of contents prepared in accordance with the requirements of MILSTD-38784. In addition, in the nuclear weapon delivery manual and aircre

28、w nuclear weapon delivery manual each section shall have a table of contents listing the major headings within the section. When the table of contents is less than one-halfpage, the foreword or text shall begin immediately below the table of contents. 3.1.12 Aircrew urocedures. For aircrew procedure

29、s, steps shall be assigned consecutive Arabic numerals after each heading. Unless otherwise specified by the acquiring activity, the frst step within each subsection shall always start with 1 (see 6.2). 3.1.13 Bomb tables. Bomb tabledcharts shall not have table numbers. Reference to bomb tables shal

30、l be to page number only. If required, bomb tables shall be tabbed by black, bleed tabs, approximately 0.25-inch high. The tables shall be preceded by an index page that identifies the tabs or a table of contents page. Bomb table pages shall be identified by pertinent parameters such as bomb designa

31、tions and delivery mode; this identification shall be placed below the technical order (TO) number. 3.1.14 Securitv classification. The security classification for US manuals shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-38784. The security classification for non-US manuals shall be specif

32、ied in the contract. 3.2 Coverage. Procedures shall be covered as follows: 3.2.1 Nonnuclear weawn deliverv manual. The nonnuclear weapon delivery manual shall comprise the specific aircraft manual and standard volume manual (for those items common to two or more aircraft). If required, the manual sh

33、all be developed and contain descriptive data, emergency procedures, planning procedures, aircrew procedures, and supplemental data (see 6.2). All information shall be unclassified. 3.2.2 Aircrew nuclear bomb deliverv manual (strategic bomber aircraft,). When specified by the acquiring activity, the

34、 nuclear weapon delivery manual shall be developed (see 6.2) and contain the following: descriptive material for aircrew procedures, emergency procedures, monitor steps shall consist of the unclassified demand-response line items from the amplified procedures; emergency data shall include tabular bo

35、mb malfunction analysis. Emergency pages shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of MIL-PRF-5096. This checklist shall be used in conjunction with the specific aircraft aircrew checklists for nuclear missions. 3.2.8 Aircrew nuclear bomb delivery checklists (tactical aircraft). Aircrew nu

36、clear weapon delivery checklists shall be based on the aircrew procedures (see 3.6.2.4 and 3.6.2.5) and prepared in accordance with the requirements of MIL-PRF-7700 and MIL-PRF-5096 for type I, class 5 checklists. Separate checklists shall be prepared for each control-monitor. Unless otherwise speci

37、fied by the acquiring activity, mission data cards (see 3.6.3.3) shall be included in the checklists, (see 6.2). 3.3 Nonnuclear weapon deliverv manual. The nonnuclear weapon delivery manual shall comprise the specific aircraft manual and standard volume manual. The acquiring activity shall identify

38、if the manual is to contain classified data and if it shall be published as a separate manual (see 6.2). It shall be arranged as follows: 3.3.1 SDecific aircraft manual. The specific aircraft manual shall be arranged as follows: a. Front matter. b. Section I - Description. c. Section II - Normal air

39、crew procedures. d. Section III - Emergency aircrew procedures. e. Section V - Planning procedures and s

40、ample problems. g. Section VI - Planning charts and ballistic tables. h. Alphabetical index. 3.3.2 Srtecific aircraft manual (two volume). If the acquiring activity determines that the manual will be too large, it shall be divided and published in two volumes. Volume 1 shall contain the information

41、in sections I thru N, data prior to the ballistic tables in section VI, and a cumulative alphabetical index. Volume 2 shall contain sections V and VI. The ballistic tables shall be in section VI Each volume shall have a table of contentsand an individual technical order number. 3.3.2.1 Front matter.

42、 The front matter shall consist of the following in the order listed: a. Title page. b. List of effective pages. c. Table of contents. d. Foreword. e. List of illustrations. f. Abbreviations. 3.3.2.1.1 Title rtage. list of effective Dages. and table of contents. The title page, list of effective pag

43、es, and table of contents shall be prepared in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD- 38784. 3.3.2.1.2 Foreword. The foreword shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-38784. In addition, it shall also contain the following items: a. A brief explanation of each section of the man

44、ual. b. Definitions of warnings, cautions, and notes. c. Procedures for submitting improvement reports and identeng the agency with technical responsibility for the manuals (see 6.2). d. Definitions of the words “will“ and “shall“ to identiSr that the use of these words constitutes a mandatory requi

45、rement. e. Glossary and references. The glossary shall contain the defnitions used in weapons delivery, planning, and mission execution. References shall consist of a list of available publications (not listed in the standard volume references) that provide more comprehensive coverage of the subject

The list of illustrations shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-38784. 3.3.2.1.4 Li

47、st of abbreviations. The list of abbreviations shall contain a complete listing of all abbreviations and a brief explanation of each, used throughout the manual. 3.3.2.2 Section I - DescriDtion. Section I shall be arranged as follows: a. Table of contents (see 3.3.2.1.1). b. Mission description. c.

48、Aircraft weapon release systems and controls. d. Weapon suspension systems. e. Nonnuclear weapons (combat). f. Nonnuclear weapon fuzes. g. Nonnuclear training weapons and equipment. 3.3.2.2.1 Mission description. The mission description section shall contain a description of the various delivery mod

49、es for all applicable nonnuclear weapons. 3.3.2.2.2 Aircraft weaoon release svstems and controls. The aircraft weapon release systems and controls section shall describe the equipment used by the aircrew to perform a specific delivery mission. It shall also contain any necessary illustrations required to describe the aircraft release system and control operations. 3.3.2.2.3 Weapon suspension systems. The weapon suspension systems section shall include a brief description of the followin
