25、d refrigerating(HVAC&R) systems. The symbols are intended to be usable inboth the manual and automatic (CAD system) creation ofdrawings.To develop this standard, the project committee surveyedsymbols solicited from governments, standards organizations,and consultants from around the world. While the

26、 committeefound general agreement in some areas of symbol usage andsymbolic practice, it discovered wide variation in others. Thisstandard therefore intends to establish a common symbol lan-guage for use in HVAC&R drawings, thereby facilitating theunderstanding of these documents and making them acc

27、essi-ble to a wider variety of users. It is anticipated that as the useand understanding of these symbols increase, the accuracyand efficiency with which engineering drawings are translatedinto actual systems will also increase.This standard is intended for international use. The text,fonts associat

28、ed with a symbol, and description box in thetables should be translated into the language of the standard.The filename alpha character should not be changed. The useof I-P (inch-pound) or SI (Standard International) metric unitsshould be used where dual units are shown in the text or with asymbol.Th

29、is standard will be under continuous maintenance byASHRAE, allowing it to be updated on a regular and ongoingbasis. Continuous maintenance permits input from users andallows the standard to reflect the changes occurring in tech-nology and engineering practices.1. PURPOSEThe purpose of this standard

SCOPE2.1 This standard covers graphic symbols for heating, ven-tilating, air-conditioning, and refrigerating systems andequipment, including related controls.2.2 This standard identifies graphic symbol

31、s by name, con-figuration, and description.2.3 The graphic symbols in this standard are intended foruse in manual drawings and drawings produced by computer-aided drafting (CAD).3.
