、anexpansion joint shall be hydrostatically tested to 1.5 times itsmaximum allowable working pressure at its rated maximumoperating temperature (see 10.2).10. Test Methods10.1 Burst TestFill each joint to be tested with waterbefore the application of pressure, allowing all air in the jointto escape.

、Apply pressure at a uniform rate until failure of thejoint occurs. Consider the pressure at which any fluid leakagefirst occurs as the bursting pressure of the joint. The maximumallowable working pressure of the joint shall be less than orequal to14 the bursting pressure determined by this test.10.2

、 Hydrostatic TestFill each joint to be tested withwater before the application of pressure, allowing all air in thejoint to escape. Apply pressure at a uniform rate up to the testpressure. The joint shall show no sign of leakage at the testpressure.10.3 Flame Resistance TestTest four specimens of th

Consider the expansion joint flame resistant if the tests ofthe four specimens meet the test requirements in 30 CFR18.65(e).11. Inspection11.1 Inspection of the material shall

、 be agreed upon be-tween the purchaser and the supplier as part of the purchasecontract.12. Certification12.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, themanufacturers certification shall be furnished to the purchaserstating that samples representing each lot have beenmanufactured, tested,
