Materials4.1 GeneralThe plastic used to make PVC pipe and PVCfittings shall be virgin plastic or reworked plastic (see 4.2) andshall have a Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI
23、) long-term hydrostaticdesign stress and hydrostatic design basis rating.4.2 Rework MaterialClean rework material of the samecommercial designation, generated from the manufacturersown pipe and fitting production shall not be used unless thepipe and fitting produced meet all the requirements of this
24、specification.4.3 CompoundThe PVC compounds used for pipe andfittings shall equal or exceed the following classes described inSpecification D1784, PVC 12454, or 14333. The minimumHDB at 73F (23C) shall be 3150 psi.4.4 Elevated Temperature ServicePVC piping materialsintended for use at temperatures a
25、bove 73F (23C) shall havethe PPI hydrostatic design basis (HDB) determined at thespecific temperature in accordance with Test Method D2837.PVC piping materials intended for use at temperatures above73F (23C) shall use the PVC temperature derating factorsspecified in PPI TR-9.5. Requirements5.1 Gener
26、alPipe shall be supplied in straight lengths.5.2 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homoge-neous throughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreigninclusion, blisters, and dents, or other injurious defects. Thepipe and fittings shall be as uniform as commercially practi-cable in color, opa
27、city, density, and other physical properties.5.3 Pipe and Tubing:5.3.1 Outside DiameterThe outside diameters and toler-ances shall be as shown in Table 1 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D2122. The tolerances forout-of-roundness shall apply only on pipe prior to shipment.5.3.2 Wall Thickn

44、5.5 FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of splitting,cracking, or breaking by the specimens subjected to this testand performed in accordance with Test Method D2412. Flattenthree specimens of the pipe, 2 in. (50.8 mm) long, betweenparallel plates in a suitable press until the distance between thepl
45、ates is 40 % of the outside diameter of the pipe or the wallsof pipe touch. The rate of loading shall be uniform and suchthat the compression is completed within 2 to 5 min. Onremoval of the load, examine the specimens for evidence ofsplitting, cracking, or breaking.5.6 Impact ResistanceThe impact r
46、esistance for PVC pipeshall fall within the range specified by the manufacturersdesignated Impact Classification Cell (IC). Table 4 lists impactclassification cell for SDR 17 and 21 pipe. The impactclassification rating for PVC pipe shall be determined inaccordance with Test Method D2444 using a fla
47、t plate holderand 20-lb tup B for sizes 2 in. and less and 30-lb tup B for alllarger sizes. The specimens shall be conditioned in a mixture ofice and water at 32 to 35F (0 to 2C) for1h(Note 2) andtested immediately on removal from this medium.NOTE 2Other conditioning media such as a refrigerated flu
48、id bath ofwater and ethylene glycol at 32 to 35F (0 to 2C) for1horarefrigeratedair chamber at 32 to 35F (0 to 2C) for 4 h may be used if it can bedemonstrated that equivalent results are obtained. However, in cases ofdisagreement, the ice water mixture shall be used.5.7 Impact Quality AssuranceThe i
49、mpact quality assur-ance is a “GO/NOGO” test. Five specimens shall be impactedin accordance with Test Method D2444 using the tup andholder specified in 5.5 from a height determined by the lowervalue of the designated Impact Classification (IC) cell. All fivespecimens shall pass. If one specimen fails, a second set of fivespecimens shall be tested. None of the second set shall fail. Ifnine out of the total ten specimens pass, the lot shall beconsidered to h
