INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ISO/IEC 6329 : 1989 (E) Duplicators and document copying machines - Symbols Section 1: General 1.1 Scope This international Standard specifie
11、s symbols to be used for the marking of controls, indicator panels, and certain other parts of duplicators and document copying machines to aid users in the operation and maintenance of the machines. NOTE - It is preferable to use the symbols shown in this international Standard for this marking but
12、, for purely national purposes, letters or words may be used instead. National standards containing such letters or words shall be regarded as complying with this International Stan- dard provided that they also show that the international symbol is an acceptable alternative. Additional symbols, let
13、ters or words may, of course, be included in national standards for the marking of controls, indicator panels, etc., not covered by this International Standard. 1.2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this In

17、document copying machines, which have been drawn up in accordance with IS0 3461, are shown in section 2. NOTE - On some equipment, particularly small machines, special manufacturing considerations or lack of space may preclude the use of symbols of exactly the shape illustrated in section 2. In such
18、 cases, the design of the symbols used may be modified provided that their pattern differs as little as is practicable from that shown in section 2 and still conveys clearly the meaning intended. 1.4 Use of IS0 or IEC symbols 1.4.1 Appropriate symbols contained in IS0 701lO and IEC 417 have been rep
19、roduced in this International Standard. 1.4.2 Where a symbol specified in this International Standard conforms to, or is directly derived from, a symbol in IS0 7ooO or IEC 417, the applicable serial number in that standard is included in the table. 1.4.3 This International Standard does not prohibit
20、 the use of IS0 or IEC symbols not shown in section 2. 1.5 Location and orientation of symbols 1.51 Location Symbols shall be placed - on, or adjacent to, controls to indicate the function controlled ; - on indicator or display panels to show machine opera- tion or condition; - on certain other part
21、s of the machine as required. 1.5.2 Orientation Symbols shall normally be reproduced in the orientation shown in section 2. If for reasons of machine design a different orien- tation has to be used, it shall not result in confusion of the meaning. 1 ISO/IEC 6329 : 1989 (E) 1.6 Use of colours 1.8 Sym
22、bol identification Any use of colours in the display of the symbols shown in this International Standard should conform to the guidance shown in IEC 73. 1.7 Design of arrows The shape of the arrows used in this International Standard is in accordance with IS0 4196. Symbols specified in this Internat
23、ional Standard may be iden- tified by the reference number shown in the first column of sec- tion 2 together with the reference number of this International Standard, for example IS0 6329-2.3.12.
