Ordnance designs are reflected on detaiIed drawings which completely depict dl tlie infoimation necessary for the fabri- c
10、ation of tlie item of inspection equipment. The contractor need provide no design when an Ord- nance design is listed for an item of inspection equipment. Ordnance designs fall into two basic classifications; mandatory and nonniandatmy. When an Inspection Equipment List references iiiandatory Ordnan
11、ce designs, tlie contractor shall comply with, and use these designs accordingly. The contractor may, however, in connection mitli nonmandatory designs and with the approval of the Government, design alternate inspection equipment or use comparable coinmercial equip- ment to facilitate his operation
12、s. Such contrac- tor prepared designs or commercial equipnieiit selections must be approved by the Government prior to fabrication or procuring of tlie equip- ment. Designs shall be submitted for approval as specified in 6.3.7. 6.3.4 Specification contro2 drawings. Specifi- cation control drawings c
13、lepict the iiininiuin equipment requirements in outline, descriptive, diagraminatic, or pictorial form only and specify the required perforinance or other c1iarac.teristics. Contractors must prepare detailed drawings (see G.3.G) of their designs in support of specification control drawings. These co
14、ntractor prepared de- signs must be approved by the Government prior to the fabrication or procuring of the equipment. Designs shall be submitted for approval s specified in 6.3.7. 5.3.5 Cowterca equipment, Cpjinercial equipment is inspection equipment that lias uni- versal application for a specific function. It is comprised of iteins commonly used by industry and goverriment. Contrac
16、tors are not required to furnish drawings of coinmercial inspection equipment but a list of such equipment must be approved by the Government. Lists shall be sub- mitted for approval to the inspection element of tlie agency administering the contract. : 6.3.6 Contractor designs. Contractor designs a
17、re designs of inspection equipment for which the Government lias assigned design responsi- bility to tlie contractor. Contrador designs shall be supported by detailed drawings which depict all information necessary to completely fabricate, calibrate and operate an item of inspection equip- ment. Thi
18、s requires that the necessary views, dimensions, materials, finish, notes, operating and calibration instructions be properly depicted in accordance with approved practices to the ex- tent that further calculation or clarification will not be required. Contractor designs identified as CDCF may be de
19、veloped on the format the con- tractor normally employs in his equipment design procedure provided such format reflects the de- tail and information specified above. Contractor designs identified as CDOF shall comply with the forinat and require1iient.s of ORDM 608-12, :and, in addition, contain the

De- signs shall be submitted for approval to tlie Coin- inanding Officer, Picatinny Arsenal, ATTN: SMUPA-ND. Design review will normally be acconiplislied with one month after receipt by Picatinny Arsenal.
21、Partial submission of inspec- tion equipment designs is permissible and en- couraged. However, the Arsenal coinpletion date for design review will be based on the date of the final submission of designs. 6.4 Submission of Znitiul production sample. .
