REQUIREMEWS 3.1 Materials. - Materials shall be as specified herein and in applicable Materials shall be free of defects affecting serviceability. specifications. 3,2 Preservation and packaging. 3.2.1 Level A, 3.2.1.1 Preservatives. - Component pares of items requiring the

9、ions listed in Specification MIL-P-116 and shall be applied in accordance with Specification MIL-P-116. 3.2.1.1.1 Wire brushes, forms, molds, and tamping rods. - Metal parts of wire brushes and the unpainted surfaces of forms, molds, and tamping rods shall be coated with type P-1 preservative. 3.2.1
10、.1.2 Scale, shaking machine, and beam tester. - Unprotected machined surfaces of component parts of the scale, shaking machine, and beam tester shall be coated with type P-7 preservative, and the parts wrapped or covered with greaseproofed barrier material, conforming to Specification MIL-B-121, typ
11、e 1, grade C, class 2, secured in place with waterproof pressure-sensitive adhesive tape conforming to Specification PPP-T-60, type III, class i. Other unprotected exterior surfaces shall be coated with type P-1 preservative. 3.2.1.1.3 Gas Burner. - Interior surfaces of the gas burner tank shall be
12、coated with type P-10, gra.de 1 preservative. Exterior surfaces of the burner shall be coated with type P-1 preservative. 3.2.1.2 Tannic acid. - The carton of tannic acid shall be wrapped with water- prooEed, kraft, wrapping paper conforming to Specification UU-P-271, class C-1, with all folds, seam
13、s, and laps of the wrap sealed with water-resistant adhes- ive conforming to Specification MIL-A-140. 3.2.1.3 Painters dust brushes, and cotton duck cloth. - The painters dust brush and the cotton cloth shall each be preserved in accordance with Specifica- tion MIL-P-116, method IC-3. 3 Provided by

15、s, and sieves shall be preserved in accordance with Specification MIL-P-llb, method III. 3.2.1.5 Intermediate packaging. - The component items comprising each complete set: shall be intermediate packaged in the cf sts. chests shall be closed and secured and the lid joints sealed with waterproof, pre
16、ssure-sensif%ve adhesive tape conforming to Speciication PPP-T-60, type II, claes 1. 3.2.2 The lids of the Level C. - The component items of the test set shall be preserved and packaged in accordance with the suppliers standard practice and placed in the chests. 3.3 Packing, 3.3.1 Level A. - The che
17、sts containing the component items o each complete set shall be packed in an open wood crate conforming to Specification MIL-C-132, style B, dass 1. the appendix to the crate specification. Blocking, bracing, and anchoring shall be in accordance with 3.3.1.1 Performance. - The packaging and packing
18、of the chebts shall be capable of withstanding one of the tests described in 4.2.1, without shifting of contents or loosening or breaking of hold-downs, ties, stays, blocking, or bracing, 3.3.1.2 Pilot: pack. - Prior to packing a quantity of sets for level A, a pilot: pack shall be submitted to dete
19、rmine conformance to 3.3.1.1. of the pilot pack shall not relieve the contractor of his obligation to preserve, package, and pack the sets in accordance with this specification. Antiskid plates shall not be used for this test

The car shall be humped or shunted to cause impact at approximately 10 miles per hour. 4,2,1,2 Crane method. - The crate shall be raised with a crane and slings or grabhooks to a height sufficient to allow the pack to swing clear of the ground. a solid barrier at a speed of approxiriiately 8 miles
