2、or interpretation refers to the requirements in ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170-2013, Section 7.2.1, regarding the location of differential pressure monitors in airborne infection isolation (AII) rooms. Background: Sub (a.), 2ndsentence states “AII rooms shall have a permanently installed device and/o
3、r mechanism to constantly monitor the differential air pressure between the room (when occupied by patients with a suspected airborne infections disease) and the corridor, whether or not there is an anteroom.” Sub (g.) states “When an anteroom is provided, the pressure relationships shall be as foll
4、ows: (1) the AII room shall be at a negative pressure with respect to the anteroom, and (2) the anteroom shall be at a negative with respect to the corridor. Interpretation: AII room with an anteroom: Monitor shall be installed at the anteroom entrance on the corridor side and shall read the pressur
5、e relationship between the corridor and the patient room at a minimum limit of 0.01 in. wc (bypassing the anteroom). If there is a monitor between the anteroom and patient room (to verify sub “g”) this in not required to maintain the same 0.01 in. wc pressure relationship. Question: Is this interpretation correct? Answer: Yes. Comments: The Standard requires a permanently installed device and/or mechanism sensing between the corridor and the AII room. Section 7.2.1 subparagraph “f” indicates that there is no specific pressure requirement between the anteroom and AII room other than negative.
