、t This “Aerospace Series“ frestandard has been drawn up under the responsibility of AECMA-STAN (The European Association of Aerospace Industries - Standardization). It is published for the needs of the European Aerospace Industry. It has been technically approved by the experts of the concerned Doma
、in following member comments. Subsequent to the publication of this pre-standard, the technical content shall not be changed to an extent that interchangeability is affected, physically or functionally, without re-identification of the standard. After examination and review by users and formal agree
、ment of AECMA-STAN, it will be submitted as a draft European Standard (prEN) to CEN (European Committee for Standardization) for formal vote and transformation to full European Standard (EN). The CEN national members have then to implement the EN at national level by giving the EN the status of a na
、tional standard and by withdrawing any national standards conflicting with the EN. After inquiries and votes carried out in ac
、cordance with the rules of AECMA-STAN defined in AECMA-STANS General Process Manual, this standard has received approval for Publication. Page 3 prEN 4429:2005 O Introduction This standard is part of the series of EN non-metallic materials for aerospace applications. The general organisation of this
、 series is described in EN 4385. This standard is a level 2 document as defined in EN 4385. 1 Scope This standard defines the general requirements for the determination of warp bow of narrow woven fabrics by measurement testing. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or
、undated reference provisions from other publications. These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard only wh

It is the responsibility of the user to establish satisfactory health and safety practices and to ensure conformity with any European, National or local laws / regulations. 5 Principle/tec
、hnique The test consists in measuring the warp bow of a narrow woven fabric laid on a plane surface after conditioning. 6 Resources 6.1 Apparat us/faci I ities The characteristics of the test methods are listed as follows: - A test plate of dimensions (1 200 I:) mm x (200 g) mm on which its longitud
、inal axis is traced (see Figure 1). - A ruler having a minimum length of 1 m and accurate to one millimetre. - A set square having minimum dimensions of (1 O0 x 150) mm with a scale in mm on its longest side and accurate to one millimetre. 6.2 Materia IdReagents No requirements 6.3 Qualification of
、personnel No requirements 7 Test samples/Test pieces Cut three test pieces of a length of (1 200 - ) mm. 8 Testing procedure 8.1 Test piece conditioning Specimens shall be conditioned faced flat for at least 24 h, without any tension in a standard conditioning atmosphere according to EN 4415 and mai
、ntained in this atmosphere until the tests have been carried out. Page 5 prEN 4429:2005 8.2 Testing procedure The tests shall be performed in a standard atmosphere according to EN 4415. - Lay the specimen flat without tension, approximately along the longitudinal axis of the test plate by “tapping“
、it, if necessary, but taking care not to incurvate or redress it. - Leave it aside for at least 1 min. - Position the ruler to make the graduations O mm and 1 O00 mm coincide with the specimens inside border (see Figure 2). - Place the set square along the ruler taking care to not move the specimen
、and measure the maximum distance, in millimetres, between the specimens inside edge and the ruler. - Repeat this procedure for the other two specimens. 9 Expression of results Calculate the arithmetic mean of the three values and express it in millimetres. 1 O Measurement uncertainties The precision
、 of this test method is not known because interlaboratory data are not available. 11 Designation EXAMPLE: EN 4429 12 Testreport This test report shall include: - reference to the test method designation; - any other information relevant to the test method (test condition, test equipment, test proced
、ure); - identification and traceability of the product to be tested, in accordance with the technical specification; - identification and traceability of the test pieces taken from the samples (number, preparation, method, conditioning, origin); - expression of results (individual values and arithmetic mean); - traceability to individual performing the test work; - any incident which may have affected the results; - any deviation from the test method standard; - date of test.
