Scope1.1 This specification covers metallic-coated steel fencef

3、abric having a series of horizontal (line) wires, with vertical(stay) wires either wrapped around the line wire (hinge joint) orfixed with another separate wire to the line wire (continuousstay fixed knot joint), forming rectangular openings. The fencefabric is suitable for use in fences for farm fi

4、eld enclosure (tokeep domestic animals in or out), for wildlife and exotic animalcontrol, for highway or railroad right-of-way fencing (tocontrol access), and other similar uses.1.2 This specification covers fence fabric in various designs,tensile strength grades, and metallic coating types and grad

10、.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 continuous stay fixed knot joint, nhorizontal linewire and vertical stay wire joint made by fastening continuousstay wires to line wires by tying them together with a separatepiece of knot wire at each joint.3.2.2 hinge joint, nhorizontal line

11、wire and vertical staywire joint made by wrapping stay wire around line wires.3.2.3 intermediate wires, nline wires other than top andbottom wires.3.2.4 top and bottom wires, nline wires at the edge of thefence fabric (the top and bottom edges as erected).4. Ordering Information4.1 Orders for materi

12、al under this specification shall includethe following information, as necessary to describe eachproduct ordered.4.1.1 Name of material and joint style (woven steel fencefabric with hinge joint or continuous stay fixed knot joint);4.1.2 Quantity (number of rolls);4.1.3 Design NumberNumber describing

Material5.1 WireThe steel wire shall be coated prior to fabrica-tion, to the coating class specified in the order, the coating

35、weight mass conforming to the requirements of Table 3.Coated wire shall be produced to the following applicablespecifications:5.1.1 Coating Type ASpecification A 809;5.1.2 Coating Type ZSpecification A 641/A 641M;5.1.3 Coating Type ZASpecification A 856/A 856M.5.2 Coated Wire SizeCoated wire gage si

36、zes shown inTable 1, Table 3, and Table 2 corresponds to steel wire gagesizes listed in Specification A 510, within the tolerances statedin Section 7.6. General Requirements6.1 ConstructionThe sizes and constructions for fencefabric furnished under this specification shall be in accordancewith the r

37、equirements of Table 1 for the design numberspecified in the order, within the tolerances stated in Section 7.Designs other than specified in the table can be manufacturedupon agreement between purchaser and producer. Each designcan be manufactured with hinge joint or continuous stay fixedknot joint

38、.6.2 Horizontal WireHorizontal wires of all woven fencingshall be furnished with tension curves, at least one tensioncurve per each 9 in. 229 mm of horizontal (line) wire.6.3 SplicesSplicing of the individual line wires by meansof a wrap joint, mechanical fasteners, or an electric buttweld ispermitt

39、ed. The maximum number of line wire splices or jointsshall not exceed one-half of the number of line wires in any330 ft 101 m (20 rod) roll of fabric. Such splices and jointsshall be made in an workman-like manner and welded jointsshall be coated with the corresponding Type A, Z, or ZA-coating mater

40、ial to provide corrosion protection equivalent tothe type coated wire being used.6.4 Stay WiresStay wires shall be uniformly spaced andsubstantially perpendicular to the line wires. Tie wire used forthe continuous stay fixed knot joint style fabric shall beminimum 13.5 gage and of the same coating t

41、ype and class asstay wire.6.5 Fence Fabric LengthThe length of fence fabric in aroll shall be 330 ft 101 m (20 rod). Fabric length other than330 ft can be manufactured upon agreement between purchaserand producer.6.6 Breaking StrengthThe breaking strength of line wiresshall conform to the requiremen

42、ts of Table 3 for the gradespecified in the order. There is no strength requirement for thestay wires for hinge joint style fabric. For Grade 175 continu-ous stay fixed knot joint style fabric, stay wire minimum tensilestrength is 100 ksi (Grade 100).7. Permissible Variations in Dimensions7.1 Wire D

43、iameterThe permissible variation of the wire,from the nominal diameter shown in Table 3, shall be 60.005in. 60.127 mm. Determine the diameter using a micrometeror other suitable measuring instrument, based on the greatestand least measurement at the same cross-section, with mea-surement to the neare

44、st 0.001 in. 0.025 mm. The average ofthe two measurements shall be considered the diameter of thetest specimen.7.1.1 Out-of-RoundnessDue to the mechanics of manu-facture, a certain amount of out-of-roundness is expected onthe stay wires of the finished fence fabric. No limits are placedon out-of-rou

45、ndness of the stay wires.7.2 Fabric HeightThe height of the woven wire fencefabric (center-to-center distance between top and bottom wires)shall not vary more than 1 in. 25 mm from the specifiedheight shown in Table 1. The specified height of the fencefabric is based on the sum of the line wire spac

46、ings shown inFig. 1, Fig. 2,orFig. 3.7.3 Stay Wire SpacingThe spacing between individualpairs of stay wires, shall not vary from the nominal dimensionsmore than38 in. 10 mm for 3 in. and 6 in. spacing and nomore than34 in. 19 mm for 12 in. spacing product.7.4 Horizontal (Line) Wire SpacingThe spacin

47、g betweenhorizontal wires shall be as illustrated in Fig. 1, Fig. 2, and Fig.3. Alternative spacing to that illustrated in Fig. 1, Fig. 2, andFig. 3 is acceptable for given design number when agreed uponbetween purchaser and producer, providing that the totalnumber of line wires remains unchanged. T

48、he spacing betweenindividual pairs of horizontal wires shall not vary from theaccepted nominal dimensions by more than38 in. 10 mm.The tolerance of the line wires spacing shall not alter thetolerance on the overall height of the fence fabric.7.5 Fence Fabric LengthThe length of fence fabric in aroll shall be the specified length within a tolerance of
