Scope*1.1 This specification covers glacial (99.8 %) acetic acid foruse in paint, varnish, lacquer, and related products.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be rega

Sampling4.1 The material sh

9、all be sampled in accordance withPractice E 300.5. Test Methods5.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with the following ASTM testmethods:5.1.1 PurityTest Methods E 302 estimates the purity fromthe freezing point.5.1.2 Freezing PointTest Methods E 302.5.

10、1.3 ColorTest Methods E 302.5.1.4 WaterTest Methods E 302.5.1.5 IronTest Method E 394, using a 20-mL specimendiluted to 80 mL with water.5.1.5.1 ReportReport the iron content to the nearest 0.01ppm (mg/kg). Duplicates that agree within 0.07 ppm absoluteare acceptable for averaging (95 % confidence l

11、evel).5.1.5.2 Precision4The precision statements are basedupon an interlaboratory study in which one operator in eightdifferent laboratories analyzed two samples of acetic acid induplicate on two different days. The results were treated inaccordance with Practice E 180. The within-laboratory coeffi-

12、cient of variation was 3.05 % with 14 df and the between-laboratory coefficient of variation was 6.00 % with 6 df. 17、1.5.4 ReproducibilityTwo results, each the mean ofduplicates, obtained by operators in different laboratoriesshould be considered suspect if they differ by more than 20.6 %relative.5.1.5.5 BiasBias cannot be determined for this specifica-tion because there is no available material having an accepted

18、reference value.5.1.6 AcetaldehydeTest Method D 2191, using 100 mL ofsodium bisulfite and a 25-mL specimen.5.1.6.1 ReportReport the acetaldehyde content to thenearest 0.001 %. Duplicates that agree within 0.007 % absoluteare acceptable for averaging (95 % confidence level).5.1.6.2 PrecisionThe preci

19、sion statements are based uponan interlaboratory study in which one operator in eight differentlaboratories analyzed two samples of acetic acid in duplicateon 2 different days. The results were treated in accordance withPractice E 180. The within-laboratory standard deviation was f0.0055 with 14 df,

Based upon these standard devia-tions, the following criteria should be used for judging theacceptability of results at the 95 % confidence level.5.1.6.3 RepeatabilityTwo results, each of the mean ofduplicates, obtained by the sam

21、e operator on different daysshould be considered suspect if they differ by more than0.017 % absolute.5.1.6.4 ReproducibilityTwo results, each the mean ofduplicates, obtained by operators in different laboratoriesshould be considered suspect if they differ by more than0.032 % absolute.5.1.6.5 Bias ca

22、nnot be determined for this specificationbecause there is no available material having an acceptedreference value.5.1.7 Formic AcidTest Method D 3546 uses formic acidas a calibration standard. The test method measures all reduc-ing acids as formic acid.6. Packaging and Package Marking6.1 Package siz

23、e shall be agreed upon between the pur-chaser and the supplier.6.2 Packaging shall conform to applicable carrier rules andregulations or when specified shall conform to Fed. Spec.PPP-C-2020.7.
