Scope1.1 This specification covers the more commonly used typesof

3、round stainless steel wire intended especially for strandinginto wire rope.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard.2. Ordering Information3.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for material ordered under thisspecification. Such requirements may include, but are notlimited to the following:3.1.

5、1 Quantity (weight),3.1.2 Name of material (stainless steel),3.1.3 Condition (see Section 5),3.1.4 Finish (see Section 7),3.1.5 Cross section (round),3.1.6 Form (wire),3.1.7 Applicable dimensions (diameter),3.1.8 Type designation (Table 1),3.1.9 ASTM designation and date of issue, and3.1.10 Special

6、requirements.3.2 If possible, the intended end use of the item should begiven on the purchase order, especially when the item isordered for a specific end use or uses.NOTE 1A typical ordering description is as follows: 1000 lb stainlesssteel, cold-drawn, bright-finish, wire, 0.009-in. diameter, spoo

Chemical Composition4.1 The steel shall conform to the requirements as tochemical composition specified in Table 1.4.2 Methods and practices relating to chemical analysisrequired by this specification shall be in accordance with TestMethods,

8、Practices, and Terminology A 751.5. Condition5.1 The wire is cold drawn and furnished in the finish (seeSection 7) specified on the purchase order.6. Mechanical Requirements6.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as tomechanical properties specified in Table 2.7. Finish7.1 The types of fi

9、nish procurable are pickled finish andbright finish (available only in sizes that can be diamonddrawn, which are generally 0.045 in. (1.14 mm) and smaller).8. General Requirements for Delivery8.1 In addition to the requirements of this specification, allrequirements of the current edition of Specifi

10、cation A 555/A 555M, shall apply. Failure to comply with the generalrequirements of Specification A 555/A 555M constitutes non-conformance with this specification.9. Packaging and Package Marking9.1 Each coil or spool shall be one continuous length ofwire. Each coil shall be firmly tied and each spo

11、ol shall betightly wound. Unless otherwise specified, coils shall be placedin drums or paper wrapped and spools shall be boxed in sucha manner as to assure safe delivery to their designation whenproperly transported by any common carrier.9.2 Each coil or spool of wire shall be properly taggedshowing

12、 heat number, grade, condition, ASTM specificationnumber, and size.10.
