Scope*1.1 This specification2covers carbon-silicon steel platesprimarily for intermediate- and higher-temperature service inwelded boilers and other pressure vessels.1.2 Plates under this specification are available in threegrades having different strength levels as follows:Grade U.S. SI Ten

General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Plates supplied

9、to this product specification shall con-form to Specification A 20/A 20M, which outlines the testingand retesting methods and procedures, permissible variationsin dimensions and mass, quality and repair of defects, marking,loading, and so forth.3.2 Specification A 20/A 20M also establishes the rules

10、 forordering information that should be complied with whenpurchasing plates to this specification.3.3 In addition to the basic requirements of this specifica-tion, certain supplementary requirements are available whereadditional control, testing, or examination is required to meetend use requirement

11、s.3.4 The purchaser is referred to the listed supplementaryrequirements in this specification and to the detailed require-ments in Specification A 20/A 20M.3.5 Coils are excluded from qualification to this specifica-tion until they are processed into finished plates. Platesproduced from coil means p

12、lates that have been cut toindividual lengths from coil. Materials and Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andmade to a coa

18、rse austenitic grain size practice.5. Heat Treatment5.1 Plates 2 in. 50 mm and under in thickness are normallysupplied in the as-rolled condition. The plates may be orderednormalized or stress relieved, or both.5.2 Plates over 2 in. 50 mm in thickness shall be normal-ized.6. Chemical Composition6.1

19、The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsgiven in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A 20/A 20M.7.
