Scope1.1 This specification covers austenitic-ferritic (duplex)stainless ste

3、el castings for valves, flanges, fittings, and otherpressure-containing parts.1.2 The duplex stainless steels offer a combination ofenhanced mechanical properties and corrosion resistance whenproperly balanced in composition and properly heat treated.Ferrite levels are not specified, but these grade

4、s will develop arange of approximately 30 to 60 % ferrite with the balanceaustenite. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to determinewhich grade shall be furnished depending on design andservice conditions, mechanical properties, and corrosion-resistant characteristics.NOTE 1Because of the pos

5、sibility of precipitation of embrittlingphases, the grades included in this specification are not recommended forservice at temperatures above 600F 315C.1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. 6、ackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. General Conditions for Delivery4.1 Material furnished to this specification shall conform tothe applicable requirements of Specification A 703/A 703M,including the supplementary requirements that are indicated onthe purchaser order. Failure to comply with the generalrequirements of Specifica

10、tion A 703/A 703M constitutes non-conformance with this specification. In case of conflict be-tween the requirements of the specification and SpecificationA 703/A 703M, this specification shall prevail.5. Ordering Information5.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements th

Process6.1 The steel shall be made by the electric furnace processwith or without separate refining.7. Heat Treatment7.1 All castings shall be heat treated in acc

19、ordance withTable 1.8. Chemical Composition8.1 The steel shall conform to the requirements as tochemical composition prescribed in Table 2.9. Tensile Properties9.1 One tension test shall be made from each heat and shallconform to the requirements as to tensile properties prescribedin Table 3.10. Qua

20、lity10.1 When additional inspection is desired, SupplementaryRequirements S5, S6, and S10 may be ordered.11. Repair by Welding11.1 Repairs shall be made using procedures and weldersqualified under Practice A 488/A 488M.11.2 The composition of the deposited weld metal may besimilar to that of the cas

21、ting or may be suitably alloyed toachieve the desired corrosion resistance and mechanical prop-erties.11.3 Weld repairs shall be subject to the same qualitystandards as used to inspect the castings.11.4 When postweld heat treatment is believed necessaryfor adequate corrosion resistance or impact tou

22、ghness, Supple-mentary Requirement S11, Post Weld Heat Treatment, shall beincluded in the purchase order.12. Post Weld Heat Treatment After Major Weld Repair12.1 Weld repairs shall be considered major in the case of acasting that has leaked on hydrostatic testing or when the depthof the cavity after

23、 preparation for repair exceeds 20 % of theactual wall thickness, or 1 in. 25 mm, whichever is smaller,or when the extent of the cavity exceeds approximately 10 in.265 cm2. All other weld repairs shall be considered minor.12.2 Castings shall be heat-treated after major weld repairs.Heat treatment af

24、ter minor weld repairs is not required exceptupon agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser.12.3 Post weld heat treatment shall be in accordance withTable 1.13. Alist of standardized supplementary

30、requirements for use at the option of the purchaser is included inSpecification A 703/A 703M. Those which are ordinarily considered suitable for use with thisspecification are given below. Others enumerated in Specification A 703/A 703M may be used withthis specification upon agreement between the m

Examination of Weld PreparationS10.1 Liquid penetrant examination of cavities prepared forwelding shall be performed to verify removal of those

32、discon-tinuities found unacceptable by the inspection method specifiedfor the casting. The method of performing liquid penetrantexamination shall be in accordance the with Practice E 165.Unless other degrees of shrinkage or types of discontinuitiesfound in the cavities are specified, Type II, Intern

33、al Shrinkage,of Reference Photographs E 125, of Degree 2 in sections up to2 in. 50 mm thick and of Degree 3 in sections over 2 in. 50mm thick shall be acceptable.S11. Post Weld Heat TreatmentS11.1 Castings shall be given a post weld solution heattreatment in accordance with Table 1.S12. Prior Approv

34、al of Major Weld RepairsOther supplementary requirements considered suitable foruse with this specification are:S50. Estimating Ferrite ContentS50.1 Ferrite contents shall be determined by point count(Practice E 562), by other quantitative metallographic methodssuch as image analysis, by measurement

35、 of magnetic response,or by other methods upon agreement between the manufacturerand the purchaser. Frequency of testing and location of testsshall be by agreement between the manufacturer and thepurchaser.S51. Prior Approval of Weld MaterialS51.1 The purchaser must give approval of all weld fillerm
